Say what you will

Sep 5, 2015, 11:17 PM

But anyone who questions why the ACC gets no respect, while the SEC gets probably more than they deserve, need only to look at this weekend. So far the ACC is 0-3 vs other power conference schools, with Virginia Tech left to play Ohio St, while the SEC was 4-0 this weekend in those same type games. Bottom line is this, someone other than Clemson and Florida St, maybe even throw Georgia Tech in there, need to win against better competition.

How many of those games had the ACC team favored to win?

Exactly right. Stack Clemson up against those teams or FSU or GT and things might be different.

I understand what OP is saying about teams other than GT CU and FSU needing to step up, but UL played competitive with AU and UNC SCAR was also very close. Not advocating moral victories, but the talent gap is not that wide.
Yes, the SEC is the best conference right now, but not by much. Is the ACC 5th out of 5? No chance.

Big 10, 12 and PAC 10?

Sep 5, 2015, 11:28 PM

All looked crappy by those standards.

The Big 10 in particular was horrid this weekend. Michigan and Penn St really stunk it up. I think we beat either one of those teams like we did Wofford.

Auburn at #6 is ridiculous. They barely beat an UL team that wasn't ranked.

All conferences are top-loaded and the ACC is no different.

I've seen double posts on mobile, but triple? That's a first.

There, there... It's not really gone.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I thought this as well, but then

Sep 5, 2015, 11:22 PM

realized that there top ranked teams are playing lower ranked teams, and our top ranked teams are playing nobodies. If Clemson, FSU, GT were playing teams that were ranked well below them, while UK, UT, Vandy were playing top 10 teams, then it would be the other way around.

Well unranked A&M beat a top 15 Arizona State team.

Preseason ranked. ASU could suck for all we know as could Wisconsin.

Well the ACC did sweep rivalry weekend in 2014. The end of a season is more telling than the first game of a season...just saying.

Re: Say what you will

To me what really makes the SEC stand out is the number of teams that CAN be contenders each year. It's not that all 14 schools are really good each season, or even that more than a handful are, but that most of the schools in the conference are capable of putting together great seasons. Obviously there is Bama, Auburn, LSU, UGA, and even though they have been down the last few years Florida. Tennessee also has had a ton of success even though very little over the last several years, but they have resources and history that will always keep them a threat in returning. Then A&M and South Carolina have a large amount of support from fans and resources at their schools as well. Not that all those teams are great every single year, but in the ACC you can really only expect that sort of thing out of Clemson and FSU, with maybe Miami, GT, and VT being capable as well. The rest of the schools are just at such a great disadvantage in terms of the resources needed to win consistently.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We are better than them.

Sep 5, 2015, 11:54 PM

We are better than all the SEC teams except maybe Bama, Auburn, and A&M.

I don't care much about the rest of the ACC.

I'm confident we beat Auburn and we would beat a&m by three tds. Alabama's weakness if they have one is their secondary and I like our wr's and qb chances against them.
