Sammy Watkins staying at Clemson next year is Good

nothing replaces the college experience at Clemson. Life is too precious. You should cherish every moment that you have being in Clemson with people supporting you and being a close warm family because when you get to the NFL, things completely change! You go from The big superstar with no money yet but still having fun and pure adoration and respect to getting a little bit of money in your pocket so you can establish yourself. But now you are the little fish in a Giant Sea, where Veteran Players are living a lot better than you are, having plenty of money and you are the new kid and you will always be wanting more and more, just to be like them. That is why another year at your foundation (Clemson) gaining age and experience in life and perspective makes all the difference.
The money will come if they are patient. That is a given.Your future in the NFL is always shady because there is so much involved. lockouts. trades. It is never certain. It is always wise to finish out school and have a backup just in case something goes wrong.......... This is what needs to be thought about for Sammy Watkins and others who may want to leave early and "start life". Ultimately the choice is in their hands just some advice.

Although selfishly I would love for him to stay

but the opportunity to get that kind of money doesn't just happen all the time. With his signing bonus alone, he could spend 10 plus years being a Clemson student if he didn't even touch a NFL field. I don't know anybody, much less a young adult, that would not jump at the opportunity to get that kind of money. I just hope he is smart with the money. Too much risk involved coming back, insurance policy or not.

Sammy is one of the few players this year with a known

and almost guaranteed upside to going into the draft. How much could he improve either in his skills or in his potential offer by waiting another year? Very, very little. But the risk of an injury or simply not improving on his stats by much is there. He is much better off taking his shot in the NFL now. Not later. That is hard to say for most college players. The exceptions are few.

Although I will support Watkins either way, he could potentially have plenty to gain by staying IMO.
He could lead next year's Clemson team to a win over South Carolina. (and not have to leave college football having never won against his rival like Boyd now has to do)
Watkins could also be Clemson University's first Heisman trophy winner.
He could lead next year's team to a national championship. (easier said than done, but it is possible - and much more so if Watkins returns to Clemson)
That's a lot to gain IMO. He will never have those opportunities back. Of course, he also risks injury too. (like Marcus Lattimore)

and hand over one of those big ole checks at halftime of our game during his off week. Name it the Sammy Oculus.
Go pro now, but always stay a part of the program.

Wouldn't this be nice. But Sammy really has nothing else to accomplish in college. Would he return he might be a Heisman candidate, which is nice, but truth is, he was just about ready to go when he left high school - the guy is pretty amazing. He could help us would he stay, but he would be doing himself no other favors.

This message str8 out of Dabos notebook. Sammy should go. It is in his best interest. He can always finish school later in life if he really wanted to. But he prob won't need to w the millions he will make in his first 5 years.

No problem, thought someone not wearing the orange glasses could give some logical input into what is best for one of your athletes. If it were up to your head coach Sammy would stay (to help the team and not his career) and potentially tear an acl.

Then I agree with him on that. When you have the talent that Sammy has, best to go ahead & get your money, invest it & finish your degree later if you choose.
BTW, I feel the same way about Victor Hampton.

Tigers need to move on without Sammy. Better now than after a year of worrying about an injury and lost of huge NFL contract.
Others need to step up to the plate. We don't need all our eggs in one basket.
