I gave up drinking for a long time

Apr 23, 2019, 10:21 PM

been one ####### hell of a week at work. Yep, just Tuesday. Got a tequila buzz and not giving af about anything.

Looking forward to retiring at age 80 like all of us Gen Xers.

3timeTiger, I know you know what this is. Called old emplyer who offered me a job last year to see if the offer still stands.

Retirement is a hoax perpetrated by baby boomers

Apr 24, 2019, 4:25 AM

Along with pensions and social security.

Perhaps support for a more “socialistic agenda” is an answer***

https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2014/10/how-retirement-was-invented/381802/

The entire idea of "retirement" started with socialism. You work until your health prevents you working. If you want a "retirement" save the money yourself and live frugally.

I always thought 20 years working then retire was too young

Apr 24, 2019, 9:29 AM

like how the gubmint does it.

Now that I've turned 50, I'd say that's just about the right amount. Its not that I cant still work, its just after almost 30 years of working, I just don't care about it any more.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh my who knew all retired boomers on SS are Socialists

Apr 24, 2019, 12:20 PM [ in reply to Re: Perhaps a more “socialistic agenda” is the problem (link) ]

Albeit saving and frugal living are admirable aspirations yet may cut down on the amount of fun one can have.

The day you stop working

Is the day you start dying.

I guess technically, I don't plan to stop working

Apr 24, 2019, 9:31 AM [ in reply to The day you stop working ]

I just plan on checking out of the rat race, buying a boat big enough to live on, and cruising wherever I need to peddling marijuana to rich teenagers.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I randomly took yesterday off and did some stuff in

Apr 24, 2019, 9:40 AM

the morning, then rode around in the boat and drank beer yesterday afternoon.

I could do that pretty much every warm day until I died. It was blowing 2-3'ers in the harbor by 6:00; didn't care.

It's nice, I think I could just slowly make my way down to

the Keys via boat. Maybe I'd come back, maybe I wouldn't.

If I was a "good drunk" I'd be an alcoholic.

Apr 24, 2019, 9:53 AM [ in reply to ########, I do it because I have a problem and can't live ]

As it stands, I'm a trainwreck-bad drunk when everything blacks out, so I only drink occasionally, like once a week. 3 is my usual sweet spot for drinking. CAN go as high as 4-5. NEVER any more.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-tiggity-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Are you a liquor drinker?

Apr 24, 2019, 10:05 AM

Everyone makes fun of me for drinking Keystone Light, but I'm not the one gargling incoherent nonsense and pissing on myself before the sun goes down, either.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Actually I am, but it's more of a function of time really

Apr 24, 2019, 12:02 PM

Prefer straight on ice.

I could explain the mechanics of why, but won't.

it's getting to be a little too much for my health. I've literally lost sleep worrying about what's coming.
