The law doesn't say that gay people can't use public bathrooms...does it? Can a gay man go into a public mens' room? I thought this was just about transgendered people wanting to use bathrooms opposite of their perceived sex.

rights and everything, but how many women (who feel like they are really men) really actually want to go into the men's public restrooms? I'm betting there are a lot of men (who feel like women in men's bodies) who want to go into the wimmin's room, but not the other way around.

just buy a Subaru, don the flannel, and get fitted for the strapon, most of which you can accomplish in a day. Seems reasonably easier than actual gender reassignment. Men, on the other hand, get shit done. That's what we do.

Also, SC isn't following NC. This is just one guy introducing a bill.
*I suppose one reason why states may want to pass laws like these in the absence of non-discrimination laws covering transsexuals is that the federal government is using Title IX to force schools to allow people to use whichever locker room or bathroom they feel like using.

One guy who said this

In comments about the bill on the Senate floor, Bright said he was upset North Carolina was "getting so much grief" over HB2.
"Apparently PayPal has shown its support for pedophiles by wanting them to go into bathrooms," Bright said. "Men and women in public places sharing bathrooms is just beyond me. ... I've about had enough of this. I mean, years ago we kept talking about tolerance, tolerance and tolerance, and now they want men who claim to be women to go in the bathroom with children. And you got corporations who say this is OK."

Will this law extend...

To women who try to cut in front of men to use their bathrooms at bars?
Can we just pass a law that specifically says that?

The law clearly states that women that cut and use the men's room must be available for a train ride or pay a fine.

for a good bit of the past 5 months. For the life of me I can't understand what the deal is with this whole argument. Is where a tranny poops really that pressing of an issue to the ppl of CLT and NC?? I don't really understand why they needed a law to protect them, and I definitely don't understand why the state passed the abortion they did a week or two ago.
Hopefully the state of SC is enjoying its newfound non-probation status with the NCAA and other organizations and we don't do something similarly stupid.

It's not like there has been a bouncer at women's bathrooms to keep the creeps out before this. A bill won't stop them.
Creeps gonna creep.

Well, hopefully she is smart enough to veto any such bill that reaches her desk. The thing that really pisses me off is that state legislators are wasting their/our time with crap like this. For once (and it may actually be the first time ever) let's show the world we are better/smarter than MS and NC.
