But after review...let's face it. We left 20 points on the field.
Missed Cole throw to wide open J-Legs= 7 2 missed FGs= 6 Snap over the head inside the 1= 7
We get all that, we win that game 37-17. Heck, if Mac-Island doesn't fall, we win 37-10. We marched up and down the field on one of the best defenses in the country.
If we can play like that the rest of the year minus a few of the miscues, I'm not sure who beats us.

but we couldn't have gotten a field goal and touchdown on the same drive.
Good point though.

You're right. I'm just pointing out the miscues.

Agree 100%, and if the game had been at Death Valley we would have killed them.

To your points: 1) Who couldn't see that DW should be the starter? 2) Who recruited the kickers and who instructs them? 3) Who didn't see that we were snapping it high all second half and didn't get the centers and qbs to work on it on the sideline?

A fact that I rarely see posted. I read about all of the positions the coaches did't recruit, yeah, maybe our priorities are different from the coaches. Some of you point out the recruiting failures but who do you think recruited Boyd, Watkins, and yes,,maybe the best one of all, Watson. These guys know what they are doing I believe these kids and their families are choosing this program because of these men.

We left between 3 and 14 on the field

The missed field goals were both after failed touchdowns so you cannot call each drive "10 points left of the field".
I think what is so hard for me is that if we even just hit one of the field goals or one of the touchdowns it would have sealed the victory.
So 4 failed snaps killed us.

You could count the fumble drive as 3 so 17 total.

and we have a habit of "almost" making the great plays
we have come a long way and coaches deserve recognition
coaches are not perfect and make mistakes
they made some mistakes on Saturday. It would have been better had they said, "my bad - QB should have been under center".
We are as good as we have been in a long time but we have a really bad habit of not getting out of our own way ( to include a couple of loses to USC and the loss to FSU on Sat). Its just the way it is. The wins over OSU and LSU, Auburn, GA and you can not take that away from staff. Just like you can not take the loss away from this Saturday. Its on the coaches...

This under center thing is driving me crazy. For the last three years we have run the same offense. Tahj would take the snap from the center in the shotgun and run and make a touchdown. OK so maybe we should change the whole offense (that has been sucessful!) because the center (who has never done it before) MIGHT hike the ball over the qb's head. Give me a break. These are young men and they make mistakes. DS said that Ryan Norton has played well and he has never seen him do that even in practice. He made a mistake. Get over it! The coaches just call the plays; the players have to execute them.

To your point - we have been doing this for years. Us coming up short in big games has been picked up nationally - not saying I agree - I am saying where there is smoke there MAY be fire so here goes:
We have a great offense Taking chances is great when it makes sense Be smart and minimizing risks is also great when there is no need for risk
On 4th and inches on 2nd down (I think) it makes absolutely no sense to put your QB in a shotgun. Instinctually its a bad idea. Its a game of percentages. There is simply less chance for error when the ball is closer to the goal line.
