But are you happy with accounting?
Now is your chance to do something you've always wanted. Not even joking, I seriously would probably do nude modeling. Not saying people would wanna see me nude but I'm sure I'd fit a niche somewhere. Many get paid in the $20+ hour range to stand there and be naked.

Check out to see if our federal Government has jobs available because they need all the help they can get in that area. Might could get a job with BMW on their management staff with your experience.

Sorry to hear this. All I can suggest is be open-minded: Besides banks and private businesses also look at local governments, the hospital system, the school district, area colleges etc. These employers have pretty decent benefits, with a wide range of salaries. Most of these post openings only on their own websites, and the types of openings change pretty often. Good luck!

Curious because my grandson is taking finance and accounting at Wofford- were you laid off because a computer algorithm is now doing what you used to do? I worry he's headed in the wrong direction.

no algorithm can replace an accountant. Computer programs are only as good as the person using them. Finance will always be a good field, follow the money.

Hate that for you man. All I can tell you is I understand. I got laid off last July and it took 4 long months to get another job. But the GOOD news is, even though I took a little hit in salary, my new job is MUCH better and I'm happier.
Just be patient, keep your head up, jump on INDEED.COM asap, and lean on God. He taught me a lot during my search. And don't forget to sign up for unemployment online. Its not much, but it's a nice little extra something, especially if you're getting severance.
