Missed the game last night but I hear
Jan 4, 2017, 11:24 AM
|
|
Brownell pulled a Muschump and started crying because the UNC players were being mean.
I've always thought he was a little soft. He never chews players out when he should....just pats them on the back on the way to the bench....

Was he really angered by the lay-up when UNC was only up by a few points?
If so, dude needs to grow a pair and/or get out of town.
I was watching and thought to myself, the Heel shoulda jammed it big time.
If people are gonna be that thin-skinned it's time to pick another pastime (or job) ...
BTW - that performance by our team last night was so weak. It's incredible that we have not improved at all over the past decade.
Our players have no finesse, touch, or ability to ball control and gain rebounds. I have a hard time believing we keep recruiting "uncoachable" players and that results are still the same. Thus, it HAS to be coaching. I cannot believe we pay BB $1-2MM for such mediocrity year in and year out.

He was mad at one of the UNC players talking trash to his bench... Not the lay-up. This team is good, we only loss by 3 we could've won it if Holmes would've hit that FT.. I'm not mad at all! I see us having a good season and making the tourney!

Should be proud of this team! I know it's sounds cliche and kinda like a participation trophy speech but we put up fight with a team who almost won the National championship last year...
Our time is coming. We will win some big time Acc games this year!

We should have won, and it was due to MUCH more than one missed FT. Ball control, shot selection, rebounding.
FT% needs to get up to around 80%. Also, tough to win when outrebounded 51 to 32.

I understand all that but it literally came down to Holmes missing that FT.. Had he made it no one would be talking about the turnovers, shot selections etc...

80% huh....
Well that should be no problem I mean no team has finished the season at 80% FT shooting since 2012 but that is a plenty realistic goal...
Good lord some of our BBall fans are clueless.

Fair enough, off night with FT season avg around 73%.
Assuming it was not the lay-up, and it was "words directed at bench" he still needs to firm up and not take it out on Roy.
Didn't realize junk talking was not allowed anymore -
Sounds coot-like.

Yes you are right someone here definitely sounds coot like.
Here is a hint... its you.
The fact that you thought 80% FT shooting for a team was a realistic goal tells me all I need to know about your knowledge of sports and the game of basketball.

Tigers didn't really play that well and took the heels to overtime. I remember times when this game would have been a twenty five point loss! If you can't see an improvement in this team you don't know a lot about basketball. By mid February my Tigers will have lots of fans! Go Tigers

Nope
A Carolina player trailing the play (Everyone was trailing the play. The scoring player was alone) said or did something to the Clemson bench. That's what he was telling Williams about. He was just pissed while he was telling him.
I loved seeing the emotion. He was not being a sore loser or whining about a late bucket.

BS. I've sat behind the bench many times over the last 6 years and watched him say hardly anything after a player makes a silly TO or throws up a stupid shot.

You're lying about being behind the bench and not hearing a word. Behind the bench seats are families and spouses of the coaches. University administrators and sometimes recruits and their families, sometimes high school coaches. There's not a chance in hell that you are one of those people.

And KJ's family never had seats behind the bench unless like at the Charleston classic they were general admission. KJ's mother a little bit crazy.

But I've sat close enough to watch what was going on on the bench many times in LJ.

You're literally saying you'd rather see Brownell chew out Clemson players and embarrass them instead of defending them and sticking up for them like last night.
Two obvious things here: 1) You never played sports at any kind of decent level. 2) You're not a Clemson fan. Stop pretending.

I, for one, am glad he put that little creep, Roy, in his place. Roy kept apologizing and kind of backing up. Regardless of what caused BB to go off, I am glad he did. Roy thinks his team can do no wrong. It was just poor sportsmanship on the part of the UNC player. I know it goes on all the time, but it is still just punk behavior. Roy perpetuates it with his arrogant demeanor.

BB should be mad at the selfish guard play in overtime. Drive to the hoop, try to score over three defenders, get your own offensive rebound and again try to score over 3 defenders..Anyone see blossingame wide open at the 3 point line????

Jan 4, 2017, 1:43 PM

That's pure idiocy. Was Rick Barnes soft when he stood up to Dean Smith? I've made my thoughts about Brownell pretty clear on this board but I'll be danged if he doesn't have this team playing some good basketball and last night was no exception. Our guys played their butts off and Brownell made some great in game adjustments.
To criticize CBB today after what we've seen so far this season is ridiculous.

Once Purnell's program was established we were consistently winning 20+ games, going to the NCAA's, and above .500 in the ACC.
I don't see this program heading in that direction and it should already be there.

You're a moron.
Funny how you're all chipper and talkative after our first loss in 10 games.

I have no problem with what Brownell did. There have been charges about UNC players getting special treatment from ACC officials about taunting opponents since Lefty Drissell was at Maryland and Cremins was at GT. Rick Barnes took a technical over it when he was at Clemson and a UNC player was making a "throat cut" at Clemson's bench every time he scored and when a Clemson player did the same, he was "T"ed up. Although Barnes may have done some good. The same UNC player was "T"ed up when he did it to Randolph Childress on the court at WF a week later.
