the "deck of cards" that is called the ACC.

there have been Conferences that are doing the pilfering ....
and there are the conferences that have been pilfered and are becoming irrelevant on the football scene.

notice that the ACC has pilfered until now?

imho, Swofford's legacy will be the death of the ACC and Big East in football at the BCS level.

Not really,

Nov 28, 2012, 11:39 AM

because it seems the football schools have gotten their way this time. Anyone that can't see the changing tide, is stupid. Last summer the ACC didn't want UofL , this time CU,FSU, VT and even ND got their way. It's a slow process, but the revelation that only 20% of the money comes from BB last summer showed the FB schools they have the upper hand.

Besides anyone can see that (in this instance)UofL is an upgrade over UMD.

fwiw, I think Louisville is better in football and

basketball than MD.

This said, you are correct in that it is starting to look like the ACC will be a tier 2 football conference will little relevance in the future.

Very little leverage and recognition: leads to lower revenue over time.

I can't believe that the ACC (Clemson/FSU especially) allowed Notre Dame entry as a partial member. It smacks of desperation and yet the popular sentiment has been, "WIN!"

That alone would have me up in arms; the perception being "we (ACC) aren't good enough for Notre Dame to want to be a full member". It's like BIg East II.

And I'm not one of those Gamecocks that see this as a zero sum game. Being from SC, I'd rather Clemson remain viable long term.

Good swap IMHO. Louisvile for Maryland. ACC wins. Who knows what happens next, but that's a good situation for the ACC conference. Just one fan's opinion.

I think adding Louisville was as good a move that could be made. I'd be happy about it if I were a Clemson fan. Not that anyone really cares about my perspective (Gamecock fan)

Regardless, what could the ACC have done differently? Who should have been added?

This issue seems to be the ridiculous amounts of money the SEC and B1G are generating. The ACC's current predicament seems to be more about what's happening elsewhere; not internally.

if another team is pilfered from the ACC

Nov 28, 2012, 11:53 AM

you will see the cards fall.

will it go away? nah. because of basketball. it will be like the Big East.

but if another team leaves, i'm telling you, the ACC is headed toward Southern Conference relevance in football.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Didn't the Big 12 just get pilfered? Maybe there's hope?

Nov 28, 2012, 12:41 PM

Maybe there isn't. One thing's for sure, getting pilfered doens't mean the end.
