atmosphere at Littlejohn - make it like Cameron Indoor

The renovations are nice, fine, adequate. But there is nothing special. No reason to attract anyone. Not a must-stop destination. One thing we can do (independent of coach and players) is to create a unique atmosphere. Students along the floor is great start. Plenty of smart folks here on Tiger Net, I know you have lots of other good ideas to enhance Littlejohn.

No we just need more students to show up and find passion for backing basketball in general. It starts with the student body. If students pack out every game, it will show the university as a whole backs bball. We have cracked down heavily on the entrance standards since I went there. I mean we are trying to get students to still fill out the hill in fb. Yet we are winning championships. When u change the academia to Ivy leave standards (more like wake n gtech) you get what u ask for. More kids who only know books and partying. Not sports. Most of the kids at the games when I went we're transferred in from other schools and played sports growing up. They weren't validictorians or salutatorians. We we're front row every game in bball on the court ends bc we played growing up. People who participate in a sport have more appreciation for it in general. That's in every passion of life

They're building a mote around the court filled with crocodiles

Barracudas and great white sharks. Many people will come to see them eat spectators and feed them hot dogs.

Arena. The students look like they are really on top of the floor with the band in the corner kind of the way it is in their football stadium and our band at DV. Also we really need to give our students/fans some shakers or Tiger Rags to wave and teach some chants/cheers like Duke. Standing with your arms folded and golf clapping does not exactly make an exciting atmosphere!

its really interesting.. half of us say "you want a winning program? you need to show up!" the other half says "you want us to show up? WIN!" either way.. the seating capacity in LJC has gone down.. down.. down.. since i started following in '99. We still cant fill it up.

Who's idea was to stick the "Old Money" down so low ?

That was extremely stupid. Having all those old emotionless old foggies staring at you (btw, I am an old foggie but I act like I'm 18 says the Mrs). Stick the kids low, have them scream and yell trash like it should be. Sell beer. Loosen up, lighten up. And don't give me this no alcohol because we are a God fearing fan base. Jesus DID NOT drink Diet Coke at the Last Supper.

Well, that "Old Money" is the main reason why the renovations happened.

I got an idea

How about all the people that come on this board and post constantly during our games and complain about everything actually stop complaining and GO TO THE GAME and create that atmosphere? Just a though.

the big question
Feb 23, 2019, 9:35 PM
|
|
the atmosphere at Cameron is utterly and completely based on the students...
the atmosphere at Carmichael back in my day in Chapel Hill was the students...
the atmosphere in the Dean Dome sucked (wine and cheese anyone?) until they moved students close to the floor
the students have the places in the new LJ, along the sideline and one end...
so the BIG Question is: how do you get (and keep) the students fired up about basketball?
why were the student sections full - and over flowing (the sections above the pep band were packed) - for the 9 pm FSU game but sideline seats/risers weren't full today?
i see a very small hard-core group of students at every game (the arena cameras give them a lot of time) but a huge inconsistency in the student turnout?

Maybe I’m getting old (well, not maybe, I am) but the acoustics of the building changed with the renovations. We sat right next to the students and there were times they were screaming loadly but it seemed as though their voices were just swallowed up by the rafters above. I just remember watching games where you couldn’t hear because the crowd was screaming so loudly. Now you scream and it feels like you are yelling into a vacuum.
