Your Favorite win under Danny Ford?

Jun 23, 2013, 6:58 PM

(BESIDES THE NC GAME!!!!)***

For me, might be that 89 FSU game.
But beating SC that year was great too.

And the ending of the game with Baughman getting punched by Woody Hays after his interception that ended any hopes of a come back for OSU.

We were at the Gator Bowl , Danny's first game.

Jun 23, 2013, 7:19 PM

We stayed 3 nights in the parking lot in a camper. The night of the game we could not see what had happened when Hayes hit Charlie Bauman. We did not know til we got back to the camper what had really taken place. Most times, you can see ballgames much better on tv than if you are there.

Jun 23, 2013, 7:38 PM [ in reply to Re: I remember how the media was so biased even at that age. ]

when the Woody Hayes moment happens the announcers didn't acknowledge it when it happened. When Hayes was kicked out of the game, the announcers acted befuddled about why he was kicked out. Found that very odd.

he got the job done and just won games. Still a mystery to me why his years at Clemson and his wins aren't talked about more. He still holds the most wins for a Clemson starting QB at 32 wins. And was involved in some historic Clemson wins.

Williams was a tough a cookie as I've ever seen.

Jun 23, 2013, 10:40 PM [ in reply to There was nothing special about Rodney Williams, but…. ]

When he ran the option he made someone hit him before he tossed the ball. He took lick after lick right in the ribcage, all day long. He was special. He was captain of one of the winninest classes of football players ever.

He could pass when the situation called for a pass. I suspect he could have been a good passing QB given a different system.

Top 6 after national title…..

Jun 23, 2013, 7:28 PM

1. The Georgia wins in the 80's 2. Beating Oklahoma in the Citrus Bowl 3. Beating Child Molester U (aka Penn State) 35-10 in the Citrus Bowl running the ball right down the throat of the child molesters defense. 4. Beating WVU in the 89 Gator Bowl 5. Beating the shamecocks in 89' 45-0, Terry Allen had 92 yards in the first half alone on a bad knee and didn't play in the 2nd half. 6. Beating FSU in 1989.

My number 1 is: OSU - Danny's first game and Woody Hayes' last game.

Actually my number 2 win for Danny was Arky beating Alabama (I couldn't remember the year, but I looked it up - 1997 17-16 over Bama). I know - you meant CLEMSON and Danny, but that is still my #2 for Danny.

Re: Your Favorite win under Danny Ford?

Jun 24, 2013, 12:16 AM

Easy question but requires some research to understand why....

Penn State.

Joe Paterno all but predicted an easy win. During the pre-game show he stated that if PSU could control the run it will be an easy win.

Danny Ford, perhaps one of the best "one game coaches" of all time let his offensive coordinator prepare and call the game...first play from scrimmage? A straight drop-back pass for about 12 yards. And it didn't stop there...Clemson went on to dominate every aspect of the game against a higher ranked team and never looked back at the score...I remember doing the "Go Georgia Bulldog" cheer midway through the 3rd quarter just to infuriate the PSU fans even more.

Best Bowl Game of Danny's Clemson tenure.
