How does subscriber fees translate to school revenues?
I doubt its 1:1, because if it is, the SEC schools could stand to earn 70+ million per year off the SEC network alone.

From what I have seen expressed by 'media experts' is by 2015/16 the SEC Cable distribution could match the 25MM that the SEC expects with the new media contract (total distribution to members maybe 50MM). By network maturity (2020?) the 70MM number you mention is a reasonable projection, so a total payout to each team of maybe 90-100MM, if the network works (Longhorn has not, and Big 10 has had lots of growing pains).

very well for them. That's why the SEC is apparently going to that business model.

Actually the cable network (charter, time Warner, comcast) will likely add it to to the basic package and charge every subscriber a buck or three regardless of whether they want it or not

That is the model that the Big 10 figured out and most expect the SEC to copy. They will try to get it packaged as a expanded basic channel, charge 2-3+ per household if the state is seen as an SEC market, .10 to .15 cents for non SEC states and rake in a billion or so a year.
A very effective use of 3rd tier rights for their sport programs.
