Why has Justyn Ross had so many drops this year?

on WCCP they said he had dropped 54% of the passes thrown to him, I am sure it's not that high, I thinks it's probably 54% of his targets have been incompletions, but not 100% sure on that, if anyone knows, I would love some clarification, that number seems extremely high, thanks

Probably 54% of passes targeted to him have been completed. I only remember him dropping two catchable passes, both against A&M. Took his eyes off one, started to run before he secured the catch.

Had one or two against Cuse. I know he was dinged up. Game changing WRs are a different lot imo. Like a high performance car, they dont perform great when there is an issue under the hood. We got used to the 68 Chevy truck that was HR (low maintenance and dependable) for those go to catches imo, and not having anyone like that has hurt us on 3rd down. In fact I think Higgins has become our go to guy really. I could see it being Amari down the stretch maybe however.

There were certainly some plays that he didn't get enough protection but I remember a handful that I counted a 6 count and he didn't throw it away. I want to say it seemed like it was always on third down too. But they knew we weren't running so it made it easier to tee off on him like that

about 50% of the passes have flown over his head by a good 3 feet.

he seems to hit Higgins in stride, he and Ross just have not been on the same page.

Kelly on WCCP OOB clarified that he has caught 54.6% of his targeted passes, which if he was averaging 23 yards a catch would be okay, but his yards per catch is down quite a bit this year. Justyn & Trevor both need to step up & be more consistent, because when all is said & done, style points will be important because of all the ACC haters out there, struggling & barely winning games won't get Clemson in the playoffs.

Ross was injured with his hip and this was limiting his mobility and play but I agree that some of the passes have been very high
