We should NOT not be taking SCAR game lightly

Posted: Nov 20, 2018 12:12 AM

We need to be focused. We all know that the better team does not always win a rivalry game. I hope the Clemson football players and coaches are laser focused this week. We need a good game plan, and cannot let the game remain close going into the 4th quarter. We need to take care of business and DOMINATE early.

It'll be over when we run down the hill.***

Good one!

actually in this rivalry the better team almost always does win

Very few upsets in the history of this series.

Did you really type that with a straight face?

I hope we crush them. But their power rating is #30, which

makes them the 2nd toughest team we have faced. Texas A&M is #16, Syracuse is #41

That is meaningless ESPN bs

Miami is #22 and look how bad they suck. Also OK at #5 and tOSU at #7??? I think there's some failed methodology somewhere in there.

They beat a Missouri team they should have lost to.

They beat a Mississippi and a Tennessee team that they should have lost to.
LUCK happens.
I am hoping the better team wins Saturday. I recall a few years when the superior Clemson team lost to SCAR. Don't want to see that again --- ever --- especially this Saturday.
We have not beaten them 5 times in a row since 1940. We REALLY need to win this Saturday.

Chit like this in 2013 and the muffed punt bouncing off sure-handed Adam Humphries’ chest was all horseshoe.
They’ll need a really big horseshoe this time. I don’t think they have it.

You know, I never rewatched the 2013 game but... it appears he was down...

Horseshoe, no kidding!

Ah, yes! Mizzou, Ole Miss, and Tennersee...

The best of the best from the SEC.

??

Their defense was ranked 104th against the run...

until they played perennial power UTC and vaulted into the top 100.

Their pass defense is ranked 56th nationally which is, again, an improvement after playing Chattanooga.

This game will get as ugly as Dabo and Clemson wants it to be.

u5c doesn't have the talent or the coaching to play with Clemson for four quarters.

I REALLY hope you are right. But we must avoid turnovers.

The SCAR team has been chippy all year. We need to shut them up early.

2019 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg

I agree but seriously what secret weapon do they have that

Posted: Nov 20, 2018 12:46 AM

we don't know about and have completely shut down for the past 2 yrs? IMO they lost one of their biggest threats with Hurst. Meanwhile, we are more loaded with talent than we have ever been. BV owns them with our defense, and even their own fans are admitting that their defense can't stop us. They may be chippy but I predict pain.

Coots are all talk, then you smack Bentley in the mouth once or twice and it's done with. I wish I could be there. 54-13 is about what I see happening here.

They do have Edwards and Deebo, and our secondary has shown some weaknesses in the short passing game.

There are a few mismatches there, but I do anticipate we kick their butts.

I know we will win, but I have a feeling that it may not be as big of a beatdown as the last 2 years. I predict something like, 40-17. Hope I'm wrong though, I would love to see 100-0!

Ultimately...you are what your record says you are...

and at 6-4 u5c is a mediocre team with NO REAL CHANGE of winning Saturday night.

Just like last year, they haven't beaten a single team with an actual pulse and that trend continues on Saturday.

I agree but unless this post is meant for the guys who are actually playing it’s pointless

Fans on a message board will have no say in the outcome of this game. I believe our guys will be up for this one and that is bad news for the chickens.

We just gotta be there, and be LOUD!

SCAR is merely a road apple on our road to conquer Rome.

They are no longer relevant as a rivalry.

I bet the coaches are already working on Pitt prep

What a dumb poast. Congrats you just got one more TD than the coots will get Saturday

I informed the team, they know now. All good

If Tommy Bowden was still our coach, I would worry

But not now.

No team should be taken lightly. Citadel-Bama at the half is prime example. As superior as we are, it always takes focus. Happily Tnetters can relax and enjoy the week. CDS will have his team ready.

Why do people always say upsets happen so often in rivalry games? Are there any numbers that support that upsets happen anymore often in rivalry games compared to games between non-rivals?

The higher ranked team has won the majority of games in our rivalry, Ohio State has owned Michigan lately, and VT has beaten UVA like 15 years in a row or something. Another one I can think of off the top of my head is Oregon owning their rivalry with Oregon State in recent years. I can't think of very many upsets between Georgia and GT either as it seems the GT wins in recent years have been whenever Georgia hasn't been very good.
