Best known for being the 1st high-school athlete to run a mile in under 4 minutes..

later set world records in the mile and half mile..

and won a Silver medal in the 1500 meters at the 1968 Olympics.

Later served in the House of Representatives for 10 years as a Republican from Kansas.

Jim spoke during the church service at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church a few years ago .... outstanding speaker and person!
