Twinkle twinkle recruiting stars (matter not)

If you see the overwhelming evidence that the most consistent major Football powers annually have the best recruiting classes, stars DO matter... but not for certain postions and then consider hidden gems.

Positions stars don’t matter: oline, kicker, punter

Things that do matter more:

Coaching evaluation
Player development

Delving deep into actuality of recruiting player evaluation—questions to ask/consider:

How quality is the player’s high school coaches?
Has the player much playing experience?
What’s the family situation? Have they received positive encouragement and have positive self-talk or negative living situation and poor friendships?
Does the player thrive on athletic ability alone or are they a hard worker?
How are their study habits?
What is their intellectual capabilities?

These aspects considered, with two years within the Clemson system, will this player improve and thrive? If he’s a walk-on type, and possesses the proper attributes, he may be better than a 4* player who is less intelligent and doesn’t work as hard.

As we all know, it takes several years to develop mentally, emotionally, physically. It’s a waiting game.

Touché. A better question posed would be: Are they studious?

That was a typo, btw. You’d never know by that sentence that I’ve produced over 80 educational television episodes and written animations for Netflix. Haha. Thanks iPhone.
