Looking at what we have returning in 2017

Jan 15, 2017, 11:11 AM

I see us going anywhere from 0-12 to 15-0, but likely some where in between. There are still a lot of questions to be answered, do we loose 3 or 4 starters in defense, is our Oline any good, and how many games will munson cost us? But if all goes according to plan and we can find 11 starters on each side of the ball, I think our chances are good to have a winning season. The key will be scoring more points that the other team every week. IF we can do this I only see 1 or 2 looses with this schedule.

With Dabo going to Bama and Batson taking over as head coach, I'm thinking the only way we lose is if Clemson beats Clemson.

If Clemson played Clemson 10 times...

Jan 15, 2017, 11:28 AM

I would have Clemson winning at least 5 of those.

Both deep and shallow at the same time. Just

Glad we don't have to play clemson 15 times. Thank goodness we scheduled some gimmes like sc state, sc, and Ohio state, and not necessarily in that order. I don't think Kent state will go as easy on us next year as Ohio state did in the playoffs.

depends. DLU's idea of only starting 8 people on defense will really help our depth. Giving 3 players an opportunity to rest will keep us fresh going into the 4th quarter.

If we score more points than the other team every week we might be pretty good.

Balm! As always I appreciate the insight...

I am already feeling better about the year now considering the loss of DW4.

Cootville has had me nervous saying we are going to be nothing without him.

Brilliant insight.
Whom did you get your football genius from?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We have a system in place. We will lose DW and some talent

Jan 15, 2017, 11:34 AM

And the replacements may not be as good, but I seriously doubt we repeat for the NC in 2017. I also seriously doubt we have less than 9-10 wins. Year after next, we're good to go again on all cylinders. So if we have a "down" year, we may struggle to finish in the top 10, but no less than 15th.

Thomas Watson built the greatest corporate culture ever

Jan 15, 2017, 12:34 PM

at IBM and literally "monopolized" the computer industry until the late 1970's.

In 1990 they lost $6.2 billion dollars,

and they are now non-impactful from a strategy point

in a market that is described as being "ubiquitous".

That's what "systems" get you...

Dabo teaches "values".

Jan 15, 2017, 2:39 PM [ in reply to Thomas Watson built the greatest corporate culture ever ]

I don't get what you are saying. I worked at IBM and IBM definitely has a system of values.

Also, their culture is also pretty horrible compared to other "high tech" companies. They are a slow moving 500,000 person bureaucracy that isn't agile enough to keep up with the industry.

Comparing them to a football team is a little crazy.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Then values are his system. Nothing lasts forever.

Jan 16, 2017, 9:18 AM [ in reply to Thomas Watson built the greatest corporate culture ever ]

Even monopolies. Even Alabama and Nick Saban. My point is we have a good system in place to be really good for a long time. And it's not just x's and o's.

True, I think we all saw that scoring more

Jan 15, 2017, 11:40 AM

Points than auburn, Troy, and Nc state didn't work out well for us. I'd gladly hand back the trophy today to have beat those teams.
