This year's biggest X factor vs SCar

That no one is talking about, we now play an FCS opponent the week prior TOO! For as long as I remember scar has played cream puff univ the week before us. Did not matter usually, as we normally won anyway. Now we've leveled the playing field.
You wondered why scar played bad vs wofford last year? Think they were more concerned about Clemson? Duh! No team transforms like that in one week, while we had to win a shoot out with ncst.
Say what you want but this will help tremendously.

We cant use that excuse totally for as bad as we have played in this game the last 4 years but having an easier matchup to work out kinks and heal up injuries is nice.
Mentally too, to have ACC play behind us for an extra week is good.
Its not two touchdowns good though. Got to make some plays.

for as long as i can remember. they had nothing resembling a streak, until they started playing a 1-aa opponent or a bye week, the week before they played us.

Definitely don't think it mattered in 2010 or 2011.

Excuse is "totally" good enough, but when you look out there and say clemson is not playing up to par and scar is, it matters. 2 weeks for rivalry game prep vs 1. It would give any team and coaching staff a clear advantage. I don't think it's quantifiable (ie "14 points"), but it matters.

Isn't that giving some credence to their argument about playing Fla and Tenn the two weeks before us? This is a rivalry game, that stuff doesn't matter that much.

"For as long as I can remember"... You must not have a good memory, they started playing an FCS school in 2010. Played Florida every year but one since '92.

You may want to do some research. They used to finish with the Orange Crush. Tennessee Florida and Clemson. Every now and then they added LSU or Arkansas as another game leading up to the final game. Compare the final four games played by both teams through the years.

Respectfully disagree. Here's my take:

QB: Obviously improved RB: We miss Ellington, hopefully Davidson has a breakout game. D Line: Improved O Line: Improved (Battle playing well, as is Davis/Beasley) Linebackers: Vastly improved DB's: Safeties scare me, but corners much better. Special Teams: Headhunters like Green and Boulware give me some hope.
SCar has gone backwards in almost every category except RB.
Can't see us losing this one unless we come out flat and give up the ball as we did vs. FSU.

Left out WR's and TE's....

We miss Peake and Nuk, no doubt. But the emergence of Williams and Bryant late season gives me hope.
TE's: Well, let's say we have Milan Richard coming in next fall. So a step back for sure.
So, across the board we're better except RB and TE.

Think we would of played as bad vs FSU if we had a bye week? We played a physical bc team the week prior and were challenged. FSU sat on the couch and watched. There is a reason scar has played up the past few years during this streak, and it's not the quality of their coach or a vastly more physical or talented team. It's quantity of time for coaches to prepare for a team that relies heavily on scheme, vs a team that was tested the previous week.
