My granddad used to say as long as you have land, you can survive the hard times and put food on the table. I didn't necessarily agree or even understand what he was talking about, but I suppose if things were to get real bad before this thing is over, I could see myself moving back to the old family homeplace and learning how to farm to put food on the table.

This is terrible and unprecedented in our society and time. But imagine this without electricity or clean water.

Got enough chickens that we have a surplus of eggs. Plus I could kill a deer everyday if I needed to. And I’ve got a private pond that’s stocked with bass to fish my heart out. We ain’t gonna go hungry here.

Been thinking about how blessed we are the last few days. I have freezers full of game (rabbit, venison, duck, dove) and a three acre pond full of fish. Plenty of canned and frozen veggies from the garden too.

If new case rate for 3/21 is accurate that is a good sign

Indicates that what we are doing, however inconvenient, is starting to work. Be interesting what the next couple of days tells us

Looks like number of new cases peak about 2-4 weeks after they start ramping up (ie, when isolations started). (Looking at China and S. Korea). We should reach that point in about 2-3 weeks.
Now that China is starting to open businesses, it will be interesting to see if they suffer a relapse with a spike of new cases.

How warmer temps will affect the virus. It's supposed to a warmer than normal period through June (if that's possible in Charleston..heavens! ). Still, 80's and approaching 90's across swaths of the country next week...and humidity from recent rains, especially the South...well, perhaps it will prove to be Mother Nature's gift. She's a resourceful one, that Lady...but, it's not good to be on her bad side! Y'all be gentle out there!
