2014 defense vs 2017 defense

Sep 17, 2017, 7:51 PM

I think this defense can rival the '14 defense. I think Louisville will probably be the most potent offense clemson will face and held them to 433 yards. The '14 defense gave up over 400 yards to UNC and UGA. This group is stingy on the scoreboard too.

What do you think? Can the '17 defense top the '14 squad?

This defense by far. At least 100 of Louisville's yards came on 3rd teammers, and they still managed to make a goal line stand against the defending Heisman thief. For perspective the 2014 defense gave up 478 at home against UNC in the 4th game. We also got ran over in the forth quarter of the 2014 UGA game, but IMO that was more of a result of the offense not staying on the field in the second half

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

UL had 180 yards total up until about 8 minutes left in the game, when the 2nd and 3rd team guys came in.

It may or may not beat 2014 statistically but

This defense is better and it's really not even close.

the game that 2 of Jackson's td passes could have been defended a bit better. first one, our players need to use the sideline as their friend. one actually chased his guy out of bounds and Simmons leaked to far to sideline. he could have knocked that ball down but got caught, leaked to far over. 2nd one was Dorian in the late stages of game, he was right there. if he looks back can probably knock that down. that's probably knit picking, or maybe not. coaches are probably pointing out the same thing. these guys can be absolutely nasty.
