If we lose cross-over to GT and FSU moves to other division

Dec 11, 2013, 1:13 PM

and we don't play either of them every year--what will be our big-time ACC games every year? Who's stadium can we go into that is like Doak-Campbell?

Mighty hard questions with little in the way of solutions except beefing up the schedule.

Gonna have to schedule some strong non-conference games***

That whole idea is horrible. We don't need to water down

Dec 11, 2013, 1:16 PM

our regular season schedule any more than it already is. All of this just to try and create a better ACCCG? How well has this strategy worked out when they manufactured these two divisions in the first place?

Re: That whole idea is horrible. We don't need to water down

Dec 11, 2013, 1:44 PM

You may be on to something with the manufactured divisions. I am not for realignment, who is to say things don't swing back one way or the other (remember Wake)

But that makes me wonder -- why have divisions? Why not just rotate home and home with everyone? Top two teams play in Championship Game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Realignment would have GT, FSU and Clemson the same Div.***

It should. But I hear some talking about FSU and Clemson

being split.

If they are intent on creating North and South Divisions

Dec 11, 2013, 1:33 PM

FSU, Miami, Georgia Tech, Wake, Clemson, Virginia and NC State should be in one Division with Virginia Tech, Louisville, UNC, Duke, Syracuse, Pitt and BC in the other.

Re: If they are intent on creating North and South Divisions

Dec 11, 2013, 1:42 PM

how would UVA be in the south and UNC and Duke in the north? That makes no sense. Swap UVA and Wake for UNC and Duke and it would make more sense.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd be OK with that.***

have 80,000+ stadiums?

Well, Miami--but who ever shows up.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Huh? GT's stadium is only 55k...

Dec 11, 2013, 1:41 PM

If you're going strictly on size:
1. FSU - Doak Campbell - 82.3k
2. Clemson - Memorial - 81.5k
3. Miami - Sun Life - 76.5k
4. Virginia Tech - Lane - 65.6k
5. Pittsburgh - Heinz Field - 65.5k
6. North Carolina - Kenan Memorial - 63k
7. Virginia - Scott - 61.5k
8. NC State - Carter-Finley - 57.6k
9. Georgia Tech - Bobby Dodd - 55k
9. Louisville - Papa John's - 55k
11. Syracuse - Carrier Dome - 49.2k
12. Boston College - Alumni - 44.5k
13. Duke - Wallace Wade - 33.9k
14. Wake Forest - BB&T - 31.5k

So like I said, in terms of big ACC matchups other than FSU & GT... Louisville, VT, Pittsburgh, & Miami

I know. FSU, Clemson, and Miami are big-time. Others

Dec 11, 2013, 1:44 PM

are like middle-tier teams.

VT--I have never been impressed with 66,000.
Pitt--Do they fill it?
UNC--Better not schedule a fb game during BB season

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Virginia Tech has one bad year and you've written them off

Dec 11, 2013, 1:51 PM

as not big-time? They pack their stadium and is constantly rated one of the hardest places to play...

As far as Pittsburgh, in 2012 their average attendance was 44k (67%) for an awful team. I expect their attendance will be better as they start improving with more money.

Virginia's Scott Stadium is 62,000

Georgia Tech's Bobby Dodd Stadium is 55,000

Pittsburgh's Heinz Field is 65,000, and

Miami's Sun Life Stadium is 76,000

FSU and GT will most likely be switched.

Dec 11, 2013, 1:19 PM

Leaving us to still play GT every year and FSU is they make the ACCCG. Conference and schedule whiners don't jump off the ledge without the facts.

Re: If we lose cross-over to GT and FSU moves to other division

Dec 11, 2013, 1:46 PM

We are gaining Louisville. That is going to be a jam up trip.

If anything happens like that we will lose all of the cross over games and divisions

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Do away with the cross-conference rival thing

Dec 11, 2013, 1:48 PM

If UM and VT live up to the reason why the ACC brought them in we won't need re-alignment. However, I think we need to do away with the cross-rival opponent thing. The league is so large now that it just no longer makes sense. For instance, after we play Miami in 2015 we don't play them again until 2022. That's ridiculous. I don't care about playing GT every year. That game does us no good when we win and does a ton of damage when we lose. If VT, UM, and one other team can become a perennial power I'd like to get more shots at them. Then there's the whole ND thing...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

As long as you don't do away with crossdressing.
