Gun grabbers prove their ignorance

Case in point.
Here we have a political candidate, a former TEACHER for crying out loud, who also claims to have extensive knowledge of firearms, launching her political campaign with a protest video. Her campaign platform? Gun control.
She decided it would be best to post a video of her "taking their family's AR-15 off the streets".
What she actually did, by cutting the barrel shorter than 16 inches, is create an illegal "Short Barreled Rifle" or "SBR".
According to the National Firearms Act, rifles and shotguns cannot have barrels less than 16 inches. Any rifle or shotgun produced or modified to have a barrel shorter than 16 inches is illegal. In order to possess ANY rifle or shotgun with a barrel less than 16 inches, one must have the appropriate approved ATF paperwork (a Form 1), posses a valid SBR tax stamp from the ATF, and pass a lengthy, 6+ month long background check.
Karen Mallard did NONE of these things, and thus in a protest of the AR-15 and current gun laws, broke a strict federal firearms law by creating an unlicensed SBR. And instead of continuing to destroy the gun by making the appropriate cuts tot he receiver the ATF requires to "decommission" a firearm, she simply turned said illegal SBR over to the Virginia Beach PD.
A spokesperson from Virginia Beach PD said Mallard is currently being investigated by the PD and the ATF for breaking federal firearms laws.
Karen Mallards's defense? She is claiming she did nothing wrong, and is simply being "hounded by NRA trolls". No sweetheart, you committed a felony and people are calling you out on it.
This is why we can't have a serious discussion on guns. Because the people supporting gun control know nothing about the guns they want to ban or the laws regulating them. Here we have a person who wants to create MORe gun laws that doesnt even know what the current laws are! And no, she cant claim ignorance or claim to not have criminal intent, given the fact that she stated that she has years of experience with guns and gun laws.
If you want a serious conversation about guns, then the people wanting them banned need to educate themselves.

If she had proceeded to cut the receiver in the 3 places the ATF requires for it to be "decommissioned" I think she would be let off.
Instead, she took her illegally SBR-ed rifle and gave it to the police as is, fully functional with a barrel less than 16 inches.
So she:
Created an illegal sbr
documented its creation
did not continue with proper decommissioning cuts
handed over the evidence to the police and effectively turned herself in.
She's gunna get charged and convicted with a felony and I'm going to laugh my ### off.

In order to be convicted of a crime you must show criminal intent.
By her turning the gun over to the police immediately after cutting the barrel
shows that she's probably not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but not a criminal.
They won't charge or convict her of anything.

Incorrect. She turned over the illegal SBR to the police. She did not make the other 3 cuts to the lower receiver required to decommission the rifle and it be "legal". She ruined any argument for "ignorance of the law" when she prefaced her video by stating she has lifelong experience with guns and gun laws.
This is the same thing as planting marijuana in you garden, claim you "didnt mean to", and then turning over the freshly cured product packaged in neat little baggies to the police. Yeah you "didnt mean to", but you literally did every single thing the law tells you not to do, by the book, and then handed the evidence over to the police yourself.
