Same, had Alabama winning. Hell, they still had Bama ranked #1 after we won the NC.

FPI: 1. Bama 2. Ohio St. 3. Clemson 4. Penn State... 10. Notre Dame 15. Miami.
Yeah, I'm going to rely on that system. What a farce.

S&P+ looks really similar. Those metrics all reward

teams for blowing people out. We don't blow people out. Sometimes we just toy around with teams and somebody we blow people out for 2.5-3 quarters and then put in a bunch of backups. Either way, our wins don't impress the metrics as much as OSU and Bama beating lesser teams by 40-50 points.
Now, in the case of Bama, that's usually fine because they also bring that level of play against the big boys. Ohio State, on the other hand, has not. Ohio State hits a wall offensively when they play good defenses. Like they can score 50 against an average defense, but struggle to score 20 against a good D.

FPI is nonsense

Strength of schedule and game control are about the only metrics that should matter and we're top 3 in both. Bama is 47th in strength of schedule and 5 in game control. Playing worse competition with worse game control.

Of course, ESPN's new measure of college football dominance is a farce, but indulge me a minute.
Bama has three wins against teams in this top 25 FPI: #17 LSU, #19 Mississippi State and #20 FSU.
Clemson has six wins: #6 Auburn, #15 Miami, #16 VaTech, #18 Louisville, #20 FSU and #22 NCSU. Who's more battle tested? Who's had the tougher road?
I guarantee you this: WE TOO DEEP!

And I believe 100% Clemson is going to embarrass Bama.

The committee will be scratching their heads figuring out what they keep overlooking. They simply keep putting "Names" in the #4 spot.Championships winners will start to matter after Clemson puts a beat down on the "greatest" team in history.

Let's Roll " Tigers"!

As stated unless you blow teams out you won't get much love from certain analyst or computers. Some coaches try and get young guys playing time. Or simply don't want to run the score up on opponents. You know, win with a bit of class! The more things change the more they stay the same. If you are old enough to remember when "power football was king and Nebraska had all those big corn fed walk on OL just mauling the likes of Baylor, Texas Tech, Kansas, etc. 77 - 3 or 63-7 them and Oklahoma............then you know what I mean. Style points to the voters meant everything! 1981 Nebraska was #4 Clemson #1. Pittsburgh who had been #1 the majority of that year lost in week 12 which vaulted Clemson to #1. Nebraska despite two losses was still ranked so high b/c they had a tremendous margin of victory! The moral of the story being: "style points still matter"! As for this FPI: foolish pathetic information just read it and grin! Unless Hurts can channel his inner Tom Brady between now and game time.........I just don't see it making a difference! CU will just have to be patient/ not turn it over/stifle the running game enough to get them in 3rd down where you "must keep Hurts in the pocket"! Do that and score say, 28 points I think we beat Bama!

ESPN simply says stuff to get people clicking their website or watching their tv broadcast. Whichever team they picks means absolutely nothing. I didn't pay any attention to them the last two years and I won't this year. I recommend others not pay any attention to them too but that ain't gonna happen...

I agree! It's a 100% joke. Every reasonable football person favors Clemson in this one. They are trying to rile up the fan base and acquire more readers and viewers. Of course, Alabama could win the game, but this FPI should be called out for what it is......a fake!

But let me guess, Bama players will play the underdog card again to try and build their own motivation

They can use whatever motivational tactics they want. Talent and execution win games, not psychology.

I love this. We perform Oh, so well when we're the underdogs. I have no doubt in my mind that if last years Bama game wasn't good enough for you this one's going to be great and I think has the potential to be the best. We're getting the best of BAMA and they're going to get the best of us in 30 days or so. And everyone's saying if Clemson wins the championship this year then we are officially starting our dynasty. OUR DYNASTY. Yes you heard me the only problem now is that currently unarguably Alabama has just won so much the past few years (last year was an exception) that they hold the current dynasty. Trust me, we'll be getting the respect when it's due. For now as a fan base let's go and yell our tails off in the stadium and make the Tide really know who's going to be the kings in the future and in this game. I think you guys don't have to worry. How many times have we been the underdog and won? Yea let's keep it that way. Plus if you want to know something, The fan votes are mostly made by complete dinguses and if you ask any reporter in ESPN right now who their bet is and who's the dominant team coming in this game they will tell you Clemson. Let the haters hate and let the professionals preach. Love y'all go tigers!

FPI predicts Alabama over Clemson

The ESPN FPI uses secret metrics to measure a team.
After exhaustive attempts to Google the FPI algorithm, I was able to find these snippets on Wikileaks which had been hacked by some enterprising hacker code named FluffyMcFluffFluff... Fluffy for short.
Lets review a few of those secret ESPN metrics Fluffy was able to hack and retrieve from ESPN's FPI.....
+1 - Any team whose name starts with and ends with 'A'. +1 - Any team whose home state starts and ends with an 'A'. +1 - Any team whose mascot is an extremely large land animal and yet seem to think the same animal likes to roll at the edge of the beach at oncoming waves. +1 - Any team whose beer budget is higher than most 3rd world countries economies. +1 - Any team whose Coach has a name that starts with S and ends with N +1 - Any team whose conference is often confused with a governmental agency that could likely field a team that would beat 3/4s of that conference on any given Saturday.
There are more metrics than these of course -
+1 - Any team whose schedule includes facing chapters of Aunt Sadies Saturday Afternoon Sweet Tea Club and barely manages to beat them until the last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter when they remember they are a football team and not experts on sweet tea. +1 - Any team whose Head Coach spent conference championship week looking through his little black book of coaches numbers to convince anyone who would listen that it was actually a 'bye' week for his team.
If anyone finds any more of FluffyMcFluffFluff's hacked metrics please share them.....
