I think about that a lot.

Jun 8, 2017, 3:43 PM [ in reply to I swear, if I'm .5 years away from ]

In 400 years of keeping track, not one man on either side of my parents families has lived past age 72. Not all of them died from disease; some died from war, some died from being shot, and one got run over by a wagon. After smoking and drinking like a sailor (because he was a sailor) my paternal gramps died from a well earned heart attack at 71. My maternal gramps died from emphysema at 45. My father passed at 67 from a brain aneurysm.

I should probably just retire now.

In my lineage, the husband has outlived his wife

all the time, except my dad, who passed at 53. I am 9 years past that and hoping to make it a few more, but I am having fun getting there.

This is why I'll never be great at saving money

Jun 8, 2017, 4:38 PM [ in reply to I think about that a lot. ]

Every time I really start buckling down, somebody swerves in my lane or I drive past some horrific accident and I say ##### it, buy the #### car/boat/gun/whatever.

The job thing is what is scaring me now.

Jun 8, 2017, 4:43 PM

If I had any confidence in this job at all, I'd go buy a bigger boat than I had. But at this point, with the sale of the boat, and impending sale of my truck, I should be prepped pretty well for a long unemployment.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes. Retire now...

and stay away from wagons.

Seems like you hit it on the head.
