Sympathy Card for Tony Steward and Family of Brittany Burns

Feb 2, 2016, 11:18 AM

We have put together a sympathy card for former Clemson linebacker Tony Steward and the family of Brittany Burns. Tony's fiancé lost her battle with cancer on Monday. She was a rower at Clemson from 2008 to 2011.

Please use the following link to sign the card:

Wow, she was only diagnosed on December 9th.

Most have been a very aggressive form of cancer.

Very sorry to hear this for Tony and her family.

She had Ovarian Cancer. It is a very aggressive cancer that is normally found late because there isn't a lot of awareness. There is no screening test and symptoms can be attributed to so many other issues. It silently affects so many women and very young ones too.
I was diagnosed in October 2014, with stage 2C at 45 years old, with no risk factors, just like Brittany. I am 7 months out of my frontline chemo and "no evidence of disease" left so far. This disease is very hard to fight, reoccurs and has a very low 5 year survival rate especially if found in later stages.
Brittany and Tony started a fundraiser that was linked to her Caringbridge site for more awareness. I didn't know her, but I know in my heart she would be so thrilled how the Clemson Family has shared the news and will keep sharing it.
Even this little bit of awareness will save lives (:

Must have been. But it's sad that we can put a man on the moon, and put Robots on Mars, but can't cure a killer disease that has been killing our loved ones on this planet since the beginning of our time on this earth. And they won't develop a cure for cancer until the human body develops another disease that will kill us just as fast. Got to keep the money and the research rolling along as usual!!!
