Serious question... Why would a junior commit to a school?

Dec 18, 2016, 10:16 AM

If you are really good, why announce so early? Is it to help other recruiting?

I can think of a coule reasons..

Dec 18, 2016, 10:20 AM

To reserve their spot.
To end all recruitment.
To focus on other things.

Bring in better recruits

Dec 18, 2016, 4:06 PM [ in reply to I can think of a coule reasons.. ]

These other 2018 kids know Trevor Lawrence, Zamir White, & X Man are the best of the best so they want to play with the best so it attracts a beter class in the end because top players want to play with top players. Everybody wants to WIN.

Plus - shut down all the calls, hold your spot in a small class, focus on school work and cheerleader development.

If you know where you want to go, I think it's a good move so you can begin recruiting future teammates.

Was the change to orange color temporary? Or was it an orange from a bottle thing; alah Donna Trump?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes but was it a committable commit? :)***

yes I think this gives him time to start working

Dec 18, 2016, 10:33 AM

On Xavier Thomas et al. Could be an epic class for us. Not doing to bad before but this may be off the charts.

Man we need XT bad. Could you imagine a rotation of him, X Kelly, and Jordan Williams!?! And with our almost our entire secondary coming back barring any early entries.

If you are out at bar trying to pick up a girl for the night and you see a hottie at 9PM do you wait until midnight looking for better girls?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Reserve a spot**

Dec 18, 2016, 10:37 AM

report stated that Clemson will only have room for 12 recruits in 2018 class --only 3 left^^

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

But in this case you can't take the girl home for another ye

Dec 18, 2016, 10:39 AM [ in reply to Re: Serious question... Why would a junior commit to a school? ]

Year, and she could get ugly over that time. Remember, you are so good you can get her at any time, so you play the field as long as you can and decide when the future is much more certain.

Ask Dakereon Joyner why you should reserve spots early***

Dec 18, 2016, 11:38 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Jamyest Williams is probably a more apt example

Dec 18, 2016, 11:58 AM

I think Dakereon knew we wanted TL and i think we were recruiting him more as a non-QB. Not sure he ever had a comittable offer as only a QB or that we would've turned TL away if Joyner had committed.

If you know where you want to go why not?

Re: Serious question... Why would a junior commit to a school?

Dec 18, 2016, 1:33 PM

Backwards logic. Most of the kids that commit this early can go anywhere they want already. Why not end your recruiting early if you know where you want to go. End one process and get a head start on another.

Re: Serious question... Why would a junior commit to a school?

Dec 18, 2016, 1:45 PM

Also it leaves early enrollment on the table most kids are pretty much done with high school their senior year anyway . In hindsight I wish I would've graduated and gone to Clemson as junior . I could have, but wasted a year of my life hanging around high school my senior year .

Several good reasons. to guarantee his spot & get the recruiters

Dec 18, 2016, 8:49 PM

off his back, would be the two biggies. He can now concentrate on school and his final season.

Focus solely on perfecting their craft and finishing out school with good grades. Recruiting takes a huge toll on any high school kid. The sooner you get it done the better.
