He looks more comfortable at MLB then WILL

I'd move Steward to MIKE and Anthony to WIll. I believe those are their natural positions.

means physically (knee) or mentally, as far as picking up the defense. I know coaches see a lot that I don't, but to my eye, he sure looked like he had a great grasp of the defense, as he was making plays and always around the ball. Maybe his knee (or confidence in his knee) isn't there yet, at least enough to let him take a lot of snaps.

He looked way better than any LB I have seen out there

Outside of Tig & Stephone...
Corico looks lost and Quandon gets into perfect position and then wiffs.
Steward would be a great MLB for the FSU game.

Still not sure if he is confident in his knee

Didn't want to cut with the RB on the swing pass against Furman...he kept running straight and tried to slow down with both legs instead of cutting with the R.B....it's something I still do (not that I'm cutting with a RB, just cutting in general) after blowing out my left knee.

He can't be any WORSE than some of the LB play I've seen so far this year, and he doesn't bump tackle running backs.

I would have used him sparingly until he became comfortable on those knees. I think them having kept him back is to the benefit of everyone except the fans.
GO TIGERS!!

some kind of energy and excitement to jumpstart them. They've played horrible all year so far.

Anthony had to tell where to line up

Steward will be a beast before the year is over. He's still learning the defense. What I DO like, which is something that you cannot teach, is instinct! Plus, he actually tackles.

Yeah, like built in automatic LB instinct?
As in, doesn't matter where you line him up he finds the ball and hits somebody on the play?
Looks way better than the alternative at this point.
If we beat FSU it will be 59-56

How can the coaches watch the constant underperformance of Quandon and then say Tony is not quite there? If its his knee, then fine. But if he means as a player, I highly disagree. He can't be worse than QC and Corico

QC is a differnet position

and Steward should overtake Corico Wright soon enough. However, Willard is the starter and has improved this year.

Yes, but Quandon should not be at a position at all and Steward would probably be better if he never played the position in his life.

Maybe he dogs it in practice and is just a gamer?
I don't know.
A blind man could tell you he is one of the best players we have.

You have to get your best 11 on the field...
Sep 18, 2012, 1:21 PM
|
|
That LB rotation should be
Tig Anthony Tony
I was so happy to see Quandon playing lights out against Auburn on one of those stretch plays where he beat the block and was in the backfield... Whiff! Another ten yard gain...
Wouldn't you immediately figure something else out if you are Venables? Its time for Plan B already.
