Run D dip has corresponded w/ Reader's return. Coincidence?

I'm not trying to throw the guy under the bus, but I am wondering if something is there. He played a ton of snaps vs FSU in the first half when we were getting gashed. He didn't play nearly as much in the 2nd half and FSU didn't do much to hurt us at all on the ground. He's admitted that he's missed some calls and was out of position on some of the long runs the past few games. I wonder if his return has messed up some of the chemistry the DTs had developed through the first part of the season with him away from the team.

I don't think it has anything to do with it whatsoever.***

Yes, Reader has been getting stood up and blown off the ball. Not what you want to see from a senior.

Having him back in game shape towards the end of the season moving into bowl season can only help.

Yes coincidence. It's more on the linebackers getting out of position.
We can rebuild them. We have the technology.

Adding someone can affect the group for sure

Never know the affect of naming new starters and backups on any given guy. But these guys are all getting plenty of PT to remain happy and focused.

Actually, Venables said they knew they'd run the option and prepared properly for it. We played like hot garbage

Agree. He was incredible at faking the dive option. About 10 times throughout the game, the cameraman had no idea where the ball was.

I think it's more of the linebackers being on the LOS, being

aggressive trying to get into the backfield. This leaves the gaps open behind the DTs, and a 3-yd run becomes a 30-yd run because the second line of defense is also the first line of defense.

Well teams have film on us and see our weaknesses. We have played better offensive teams. Our linebackers have taken wrong angles and gap assignments . Bouleware for all his good has played poorly in critical situations. We need to upgrade our talent at linebacker.

Like that 4th down stop against FSU. Or that wasn't a critical situation?

Or that 75 yard run by Cook on the second play.

I didn't like our run D against BC. Had problem with the I. Agree the LBs seem to be on the LOS. If RB gets past D line they have clear sailing.

We have almost a whole season's worth of film on us now...

...easier to find a scheme or a crease or a tendency that wasn't as well "documented" earlier in the season. All teams have this advantage as the season gets longer and thus one reason it is a lot harder to keep winning late in the year...a weakness WILL eventually be drawn out.
That's one reason it is so hard to go undefeated. You have to be good and you have to be lucky.
