Republicans now support the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

Jan 4, 2019, 8:34 AM

According to their fearless leader Donald J. Trump.

The alignment of Putin's interests with the Republican Party is almost complete.

Communist coup in Afghanistan and Russia's assertion of

Jan 4, 2019, 9:08 AM

power in the country ticked off the "terrorist" locals and that's how the war started. That was a good example of a war where we should have let them fight it out. Terrorists versus communists? Let them all kill each other IMO. But we backed the future terrorists over the then-enemy communists. Same for Iraq and Iran. We hated Iran so we backed Saddam Hussein. That came back to bite us in the ### too.

When will the leaders of the free world learn the enemy of my enemy is NOT necessarily your friend? This is where Henry Kissinger's diplomatic ideas smack face-first into reality. You can't play one against the other really because NO ONE is ever really your friend. The world ain't Europe, where that approach can actually work.

This inconsistency is why we're ultimately sofa king screwed

We don't have two parties with fundamental ideas on what's best for the country led by a solid moral code. We have people whose favorite color is plaid, taking whatever side of an argument is politically and more importantly to them, personally, expedient.

Many pubs who were war hawks are now all for pulling out of these regions.

Many dems who skewered Bush et al over "needless wars" and enriching Haliburton are now all for staying in these regions.

It's sad, but most of those with actual power to do anything neither have an actual conscience nor the spine required to act on it.

Why all the sudden are Dems SOOOOO worried about Russia? They basically mocked Mitt Romney for a year for saying that they were our main geo-political foe.

Seems like you have you own problems in your own house.
