Prolly not illegal, but sure should be

Apr 20, 2020, 7:33 PM

About 2 months ago I bought my youngest Granddaughter a nice little 2017 Subaru Impreza only 11k miles. So she's loving it UNTIL, she comes to me with tears streaming and says something is wrong with her car. Shows me this crap.....relived but at the same time mad as ####. Ought to be a law!!!!

Sounds like something my parents would write a check for..... Subaru’s make great first cars!

respectable durability game. That kid's first car may likely get handed down to her kid.

Yep, just another form of Telemarketing. And many not

My 'brilliant' dad fell for

Apr 20, 2020, 7:48 PM

The 'pop up' on his computer advising he "fill in the blank". When he told me, I wasn't sure whether to laugh...or slap him...but did tell him he'd been conned. He spent years traveling and, when he 'stays in his lane', he's safe. But, Lowered knows, when he tries to pass or not ask for directions...it's not a pretty sight! Suffice to say, I told him to NEVER do anything of the sort, whether email, pop-up, snail mail, phone call, etc., without touching base with me. Same advice given to my wife!

There are services that buy your purchase info

Apr 20, 2020, 8:18 PM

from dealers for this marketing. If I find out a dealer sells that info, no more business, service or purchase.

Just like when you purchase a house. You get all kinds of offers for months on end.

When these jerks call me, I have been known to:

Apr 21, 2020, 12:40 PM

1. Read the Bible to them, typically John, Chapter 1. Have gotten good and bad responses from the person on the other end.

2. Hold the phone to my computer speakers and let them listen to WCCP, or whatever radio/music is streaming.

3. Ask them to identify which car are they referring to. Keep telling them they called me about the car, so they should know.

4. Give them a fictitious car and other miscellaneous false information.

5. Act nervous or excited about their sales pitch

6. Speak in a 'made-up' foreign language

7. Hang up

Responses 1-6 are fun because it aggravates them more so than them aggravating me. Plus, it keeps them on the line to prevent them from moving closer and closer to someone who will fall for their lies.

"When I was young, I was sure of many things; now there are only two things of which I am sure: one is, that I am a miserable sinner; and the other, that Christ is an all-sufficient Saviour. He is well-taught who learns these two lessons." -John Newton

Funny, I got one from a dude with an Indian accent who said my warranty had expired and when I asked him which car he said my 1967 Ford Mustang. I actually do have one that has been sitting in a shed by the house, not running or registered, for over 20 years. Where in the world did he get that information?

There's something in these hills.

I keep a Yoko Ono video handy to play for the telemarketers.***
