Kid's bathroom has the old school 3 knob set up for the bath. A knob for hot. A knob for cold. A knob in the middle you pull out for shower.
The cold knob will only turn the water on a little bit. Knob still turns all the way but it doesn't put out a lot of water.
What could be causing this and will a pallet help?

pop the little plastic C in the center of the knob out and

tighten the screw.
Then in about a week you'll need to replace the washer because you over tightened it.
Pro Tip - Stand on a pallet while in the tub so you will scratch t up real good.

Simple fix given your situation: redirect your washing machine drain line out of your flower and hang it in over the shower curtain rod. The $15 for additional tubing may seem like too much for your budget, but remember that you will make that up since the water from the washing machine will already have detergent in it, eliminating the need for soap.

KYS.
Na really though, most the time stuff like this can be fixt with a new cartridge. Cain't say that is necessarily the problem but it's a cheap part and easy to do if you can get it out and find the part. That's usually what we tell people here at Faucetworld.manufacturer.

The valve has gone bad and is not fully opening.

I replaced mine a few months ago, but mine is just one knob and a shower diverter. It was actually the diverter that broke but the ball valve screw broke when I was disassembling it. The biggest issue can be identifying the hardware so you can buy replacement parts. You want to avoid having to cut the wall open to replace everything. But provided you can identify a replacement part you should just be able to remove the knob (usually a screw in the center) and replace the valve. But if you screw up and break something you're going to have to go into the wall.
