Our radio announcer is AWFUL

I've always disliked him but ####, he's terrible. I'm watching pump up videos for Saturday and everytime a video has his voice doing replays from last year, I lose all excitement.

We've never had good announcers. Jim Phillips was

pretty good for basketball.
I was so envious of UGA for having Munson so many years.
Still, I don't know if any good young college radio announcers even exist any longer, so I don't know what can be done about it.
FSU guy is great. GT and UNC used to have good announcers.

play gained, nor how much to go for first downs, nor how much time was left. This is all that's really required of radio announcers but JP didn't do it very well.
Larry Munson on the other hand, told how much each play gained down to the inch, and said it over and over again.

and was a great Tiger, just not a very good announcer. The color guys we've had, Mike E., Rodney, Patrick Sapp, etc. have been even worse.

I loved listening to Philips. He was the voice of CU.

But he was not the best "gameday announcer". We would joke as kids about his calls........"Tuttle make the catch at the 45, down the sidelines to the 40, the 30, the 20, the 10, 5. Down at the 17 yard line."

announcer and knows his football pretty well. But I hate the "Orange in the End Zone" catch phrase. His voice tone is fairly monotone announcerly-like, nothing special. Could be worse, could be better.
Jim Phillips was good when I was younger but just seemed to be bored for most of the broadcast. I know he was revered by many but I just never really cared for him, especially when he got older.

I just wish that for once he would say Touchdown Tigers! Or something, anything besides "there's orange in the endzone" every single time.

Jim Phillips Larry Munson
And never seeing Hershel or George cross that goal line.
"they stoned us at the line again...he did not get in...he did not get in "
Munson was good.

I don't think 120 votes makes it official. I've lived in the big city my whole life and he just doesn't have the best vocals but calls a good game.
Gene Deckerhoff (F$U) and Wes Durham (Falcons & GT) call the best play by play. Both Munson and Phillips never gave the important details. The local sport talk guys always bashed Munson for poor play calling plus the dunce Lauren who never had any insight on the field.
