Memories of the 1995 Gator Bowl...

Oct 2, 2013, 1:35 PM

I remember the score being 41-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

I remember sitting in a steady rain throughout the entire game...at least it wasn't cold.

I remember our "Coach Cheese 1.0" DB's getting smoked all over the field, with the exception of Brian Dawkins playing his final game as a Tiger against freshman QB Donovan McNabb.

I have no memories of our offense.

Most of all, I remember the few Syracuse fans that showed up MOCKING us as we left the game after time expired.

CRUSH THEM, Tigers!

Holy crap - I had just graduated from Clemson and got tickets for the game from my Coot brother for Christmas. We were not in the game from the start. We were overwhelmed by their defense and our defense was lost. We made a legend out of McNabb. Raymond Priester was shut down completely. Overall it was a freakin miserable experience, one that I had blocked out for MANY years until Syracuse joined the league. Time to repay the favor!! Go Tigers!!

and seeing several of our players out partying well after midnight. Guess Tommy West didn't have a curfew. Or they snuck out. Most miserable game I ever attended with a close second to the whipping in the Gator Bowl when Pitt and Matt Cavenaugh took us to the shed. The great thing was the following year watching Danny get his first win in the Gator.

Re: I was there too, totally intimidated by Clemson fans.

Every bar was loaded with huffing from Clemson fans...we were terrified.....until sometime in the FIRST quarter, even the popcorn vendor wondered "how do he get so open?":)(McNabb to Harrison) If the exiting fans were rude, it was because they had been totally vindicated.

Lets keep it classy.
