LOL at people choosing tonight to be exasperated with Brownell.

We didn’t have our leading scorer, leading rebounder, and team leader. We played a team that had won 4 in a row, and held them to 20 points below their season average. We had a chance at the end to win, despite (another) poor shooting night where our guys missed a lot of open shots.
Losing always stinks, but if you want to get rid of Brad, I recommend you choose a different game than tonight to justify your desire. Or better yet, wait until the end of the season and look at things with a more level head.

notre dame is second in the conference in offence with four different players averaging twelve points a game. We played a very good game, just not quite good enough to win , especially in the final minute . I was there and I saw it .

I don’t think it matters after which game Brad gets fired. It will be justified. If you care about winning at basketball. And if you don’t, it doesn’t matter either.

We still should have won that game. Watch Coach Brey for them. The instant he sees a change in momentum starting with only one basket he calls a time out to change up his defense. Each time he thwarted out potential runs. That is a mark of good coaching! Brownell sheould learn from him. Sometimes I wonder just hows many straight baskets have to occur by the opposing team before Brownell calls a time out to make adjustments! And with Mooney playing so much of his time on the perimeter Mack should have been playing inside and not be taking so many outside bomb shots which he was missing!

You should contact Coach Brownell and let him know.

Maybe you can teach him about how to manage a game and when to appropriately call timeouts.

Revolving excuses on one side, perpetual disdain on the other.
Which is more likely to make me enjoy my team?
I'll take my team, Alex. Calling out the judge for having reasonable expectations is weak.

It’s about supporting our coaches and players.

Many people who post here can’t say anything nice. They always find something to complain about. We beat UNC in Chapel Hill, and instead of being ecstatic, they say that it isn’t that impressive because UNC isn’t good this year. We beat Duke, and instead of enjoying it, they say that we don’t win games like that often enough. We had an amazing year a couple of years ago, but it doesn’t matter because it doesn’t happen enough.
We shot horribly from the foul line for a several game stretch earlier this year. Dozens of posts complained about it and used it as a reason why Brad isn’t a good coach. Yet I haven’t seen one post (other than mine) talk about how much our FT shooting has improved over the last few games. God forbid we actually give Brad credit for improving it.
We play a hard fought game tonight without our best player, against a team playing really good basketball the last couple of weeks, and instead of praising our team’s effort and recognizing some players who really stepped up, it’s more whining.
I’m happy to discuss pros and cons of a game. Tonight, I thought we missed way too many open looks. I thought we were very sloppy at times (fumbling passes, etc.). I thought we took way too long getting a shot off near the end. I also don’t see the point in dwelling on those issues right now. I’d rather discuss how hard we played, what an outstanding defensive performance we had, and how great it was to see Hemenway and Jemison play more minutes and make valuable contributions.
I choose to support our team and focus on the positives, because they represent Clemson. They are working their tails off. Whining about them on a message board accomplishes nothing.

No ill feelings from me tonight on Brad. We had tons of wide open shots missed and it drove me insane. Like doing everything right up to missing the shot. I thought Jemison stepped up and had a confidence boosting performance. So did Alex. I was really pleased with their play. On the other side Im a little disappointed in Mack and Tyson. They had so many open shots. Mack needs to be inside around the rim. He was 2-8 on 3s. Looking back it seems like he's always 1-8 or 1-9 or 2-9 every single game. At some point Brad needs to say look kid you have a limit now. You arnt jj Reddick out there. As far as Tyson I would just like to see him be more consistent. He shows up one game out of every 5. One day it's 25 point and next it's 3. This game wasn't on Brad. It was the fact one guy for us showed up. Alex was 4-7 from 3. We only made 9 out of 34 as a team. Which means the rest of the team was 5-27. That's absolutely horrible. Either 2 things have happened here. Either Brad recruited some bad shooters or those players have failed to get better in the gym developing their game. When I played I was always in the gym 24-7. Even when practice wasn't called. Working on free throws and 3 pt quick releases. Coaches are limited on how many hrs they can have with the kids thanks to the NCAA so if this team wants to get better it's on the players as much as it is the coach.

you don't agree with?
Just because many of us know that Brownell has showed time and time again that he doesn't have what it takes to be the kind of coach we expect at Clemson you have to call us "haters."
That's just childish, insecure, and downright pitiful.
I don't personally know anyone that hates Brownell. Most of them respect him as a person, just not as a basketball coach.
Grow up, brighten up, and accept reality. Or at least accept that people can disagree with you without being "haters."
You sound like a cult member.

It’s not tonight. It’s 10 years of inconsistency and excuses. It’s a coach who should have been canned after his team quit in year 3 and then got our AD to agree to an awful buyout because he won 3 NIT games the next year. A bad contract and only performing when his tenure is on the line is the frustration. A cheap buyout is the perfect time for fans to vent so we don’t wind up looking ill prepared at season’s end like year 7 when Oakland embarrassed us in the NIT.

Being the leading rebounder on this team..

Is not a trophy moment. I will never understand why when we shoot all the players run down to set up defense. That is coming from coaching. If it were not from coaching, he would tell them to get into position to rebound. Sure, send one or two back down the court to prevent a fast break but so many points are not scored by not rebounding at all. Never seen a team do this.

Simms has been struggling to score in recent games. Hemenway picked up the scoring, the others did not. That’s the story of this season in a nutshell. In January a couple guys had strong games at the same time and few wins were the result. Overall this team has not done well enough to complement each other. Injuries, inexperience, poor shooting (talent and focus), poor rebounding (technique and focus) are the symptoms. Eventually the coaches will have to answer for that. As others have noted that time will be after next season if we see the rinse repeat cycle of the majority of the Brownell tenure.
Earlier this season I kept asking about when will Hemenway be back. Last night is the skills I saw briefly in November that probably could have helped them win a few more games. He’s a shooter, I sure hope he continues to develop in a solid 6th man who breaks scoring droughts.

I think it’s more of a “straw that broke the camel’s back“ situation. Brownell has been piling an awful lot of straw up there the last 10 years and at some point it has to break. Even for the most level headed fan. The same thing happened with Tommy Bowden really, and most coaches that get fired. One game usually is not the reason a coach gets fired, unless they tackle an opposing player of course.

Not a big fan of CBB by any stretch but with Simms out I knew the Tigers would be very limited. I'll give Brad a pass on this game. Last night actually was a much better effort than the two previous games.
Hopefully Alex can continue his 3 point prowess for the remainder of the year. Tevin and Hunter need to spend more time inside.

We are 292nd in 3 point % yet we are 88th in attempts. That alone is just reason to want to get rid of BB. I know we will not till after next year if we do poorly. I thought our guys played hard tonight we just don't know how to dribble or shot. We can play hard and play good D tho. I think we have plenty of talent/athleticism we just cannot play good basketball for some reason. Idk what that reason is

They've been exasperated. Personally, I'd prefer not to get rid of Brad. I'd much rather he turn this program around. He just doesn't get forever to do it, and as much as I like him, at some point he has to be held accountable for the results.

negative selves. They could've supported our TEAM and acknowledged that we were even more short-handed than usual this year. They could've praised the effort by our players. They could've mentioned Hemenway's great game, or Jemison's gusty performance. They could've pointed out the nice adjustments Brad made to keep us in the game and have a chance at the end.
Instead, they ignored all of that and used the game as a reason to support their stance that Brad needs to be fired. If they truly believe that Brad stinks and we will lose a lot more games this year, they could've saved their vitriol for another game and actually acted like compassionate, supportive fans for once. Missed opportunity!

We were not ready for the end of the game. fact, many things during the game could have changed the ending . . but you have what you have. So you deal with it. We failed miserably. And that speaks of coaching. Poor poor time management, players were not ready. Falls on the coach.

No need to be exasperated. Things may just magically change next year, or the year after, or the year after, or..when?
Brad's MO is really an unknown after 10 years and we need to see what happens after a few more years. It's all good.
Sigh.

I will go back and read this but really have to get something off my chest first.
Simms is out, young team comes up short (youth mistake) fighting in the end, and folks come out on blast...I am lost at finding one's logic of such an attack post ND Game. How one could totally overlook Hemenway's or Jemison's performances on that night? Jemison's offense is a work in progress but he gave us an entire game of solid D without picking up fouls. Really solid versus Mooney. I should not even need to point out Hemenway, last game/missing time (injury) impact.
They don't want to note that or how once all these piece are healthy what we will have, with Baehre, Honor, and the incoming class.
Truly amazed.

I have admit Judge, you made the correct call on this post. If we can win 3 of the last 4, I'll be ecstatic. I'm still not sold on keeping CBB. We seem to make this late season run each year which saves his job. I needed to see something early this year and didn't see it. Go Tigers!!!
