Lost a faithful Tiger

Jun 2, 2018, 8:41 AM

As you can tell by my post history, I don't usually post here. I'm 71 years young and just can't handle some of the silliness. Just wanted to post today as I prepare to go to my uncle's funeral.
I enjoyed our times together even when he was in the hospital fighting cancer. He always wanted to talk Clemson football or baseball. He made sure he knew hospital tv channels and when the Tigers were playing. Such a shame that most of his nieces and nephews abandoned him once the big C took over his body. Sure his wife has something Clemson planned for the funeral and I made sure my flower arrangement is purple and orange. RIP Uncle David Campbell.

Prayers for peace in your family....but please

consider the fact that some people just can't take the mental anguish that they have watching someone who has been close to them(hopefully) suffer through what cancer can do to them. Avoidance is not the best thing to do but is often taken as the easiest path.

I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger

Sounds like you had an awesome uncle

Jun 2, 2018, 9:53 AM

and you were good to him. So sorry for your loss.
By the way, do you live in the Fork Shoals community
in Greenville County or near there on Fork Shoals Road?
If so, I live near you in Simpsonville. That's a nice
area with the old mill, the Reedy River, the falls, and
the park.

@BigAl31 I live about 2 miles from Fork Shoals. Bordeaux Drive off of Fork Shoals Road. Built our house in 1986 and love this area. You can find me every Friday at lunch time at Southern Catch Seafood Restaurant on lower end of Fairview Road. I'll be the one wearing orange.

Stay Clemson strong my friend. It is tough to go through the big C, especially when other family members have become distant. You were there, and rest assured he knew and appreciated every waking minute you were there. I’m not quite 70 years young but close.

My dad suffered 3 years with it in his 60 ‘s and the friends and other family members that disappeared were eye opening. It’s the little things like being there talking Clemson that makes all the difference in the world.

Yep, he was truly blessed to have you by his side until the. We will certainly say a prayer for you my friend. Please relish that today is not a closure but a beginning for your uncle.

God bless, and when you say your final goodbye today, silently lean over and give him one more Go Tigers!

Cancer took both my parents so I know what you've been going through. May God be with you during these difficult times.

Sounds like a great man and I am sorry for your loss.

On a positive note, I'm choosing to think about the fact that you and your uncle were able to see a recent Clemson national championship together. A good memory to have.
