Kirby has already shown that he thinks he can bully the local media.
The sports radio guys have all been noticeably kinder in their coverage of UGA football. It's not a coincidence. The guy is a jerk.

He has led the country in arrests, blown back to back games against bama because he actually had to be a coach for once and not just have better athletes,those around him in the athletic department get fired, recruits straight up say they got paid to commit but yet Georgia changes laws for him to get away with paying recruits, UGA gives him a helicopter to razzle dazzle recruits who's careers he's about to ruin, and keep posting bail money so they can win games. He's not getting fired because he's the second coming for UGA in their mind but take away his recruits and he's a horrible coach, MR2.0 would be a compliment to his poor coaching ability. LSU? Texas? Both of which pale in recruiting to UGA, Bama the only school recruiting on par with UGA the past 3-4 years spanks them with a backup QB twice because instead UGA had to have a coach make the difference and he got embarrassed.

Player are compensated. They get a free education worth thousands. They are also empowered. They don't have to take the free education. They're free to apply to the school like everyone else and then find a way to pay for it.

the writer lost me at "Players generate mountains of revenue but receive very little of that money,"
granted we fans love what Dabo and Co. have done for our football program. However, who reaps the most from the salary the coaches make. The players. They become better players due to better coaching, they enhance their opportunity to play in the nfl, and to make more if they do.
Plus the cost of attendance, stipend, training , nutrition, etc. I'm not buying it.

Everybody wants their cut nowadays . You saw how quick the video game makers pulled their stuff off of shelves when the heat got applied .
Whether or not we agree with it I believe that the die is cast and there will come a time (soon) when the NCAA allows college athletes to recieve direct payment for their assumed value .

Play the game they love.
I'm tired of the charade that these kids built these athletic departments and manage this income?
It's great that they are a part of the machine but if they don't like their scholarship and the deal they get then someone will gladly take their place.
It's akin to when Lebron said NFL players are "enslaved" by the owners. I wish I could be enslaved for $500,000 a year. ??
