keeping jacking your monthly charges up, every few months, if you don't really stay on top of it. I have to call them about twice a year, to get the price back down after they jack it up.
Back in May, I noticed that my bill suddenly increased to $95, up from the normal $70. It just so happened that was the same time we were getting 100 Mb internet in our community, so I called them up, told them I could stream everything I wanted for $40 per month, and to cancel my DirecTV.
The very next day, they call me, begging me to come back and they would get my bill down to $56 per month. I said no, that's still $16 more than YouTube Live TV. Then they offered me a $300 Visa card, plus free NFL Sunday Ticket, if I would stay with them for 12 months. Since this got my net cost down to $31 per month, I went for it.
Come next May, they will have to pony up again, or I'm gone. To get this kind of deal, you have to really play hardball with them, act like you don't give a damm if you do cancel, and be willing to do so, if they don't play ball.

just put it on your calendar once a year to renegotiate before they jack it up. Its a pia, but worth it imho

having charter now because I can't get a good signal. Too many tall trees... blah blah blah. I really miss being able to dvr more than 2 shows at a time and not having one football game use up 40% of my dvr space. Unfortunately, no single streaming service offers all the channels watched in our family.

I use youtube tv. DVR what you want as much as you want. Unlimited DVR and oh yeah storms dont cause it to go out. And only $40 a month for 6 tvs

they missed for date to install. Then, said it would be another 2 weeks.
We finally decided to go with xfinity. Tried to call Direct TV, first they couldn't find the work order (even when we gave them the number). They told us we had to call AT&T (it was a package deal). They didn't have it either. Then, called Direct TV back, and they finally cancelled the order.
2 weeks later, they still showed up to try to hook up.
30 days later, they tried to charge us for a hook and service we didn't have.
Good lord....
