In 2010 Gus was an offensive genuis

Sep 19, 2016, 10:41 AM

In 2016 hes looks like a high school coach that has no clue. Whats the deal? Ive always said he cant recruit/develop QBs and has to rely on JUCOs... and thats obviously a major factor. Have teams figured out his offense? Does he not know how to adequately recruit for his system? We owe him some props bc hes the architect of our offense. But how are we running it better than he can?! Is he the Tommy Bowden of the HUNH? He laid the foundation but better coaches that he have taken it next level?

You asked, "What's the deal?".
Cam Newton is now playing for the Panthers.

Their offense was really good in 2013 too and they

did it primarily running the ball. They cant even run effectively now which leads me to believe their OL has stunk the last two years.

Recruiting has been fine, they have plenty of talent in the program. I don't really know. It's hard to imagine Gus has forgotten how to coach Xs and Os so maybe him and the staff just can't develop players.

I think his loyalty to Lashlee

Has severely cost him.

I don't understand the confusion, he is still offensive to me.

I thjnk he is an offensive mastermind. But it is bells and whistles. A lot of surface paint. It works well against most but teams like Alabama aren't falling for it. Plus he needs a certain type of qb. He is using three to try to make up for what he had in one with Newton. I don't think he is a good head coach at all. I think if he were OC only, he would be doing quite well.

Cam Newton and tough lines of scrimmage. Simple as that***

There's something in these hills.

He was very successful in 2013 w/o $cam

They had a good QB.

Nick Marshall isn't even close to being Cam though.

He proves that Malzahn can win with other QBs that aren't cyborgs.

I dont think it would be fair to say that Dabo cant win without Watson OR Boyd.

Takes time...

to raise the funds to recruit a really good QB that has been kicked out of another school.

He simply does not have a Qb.
