Kearse loving the direction of the Clemson defense
Before the season, there were many questions about the Clemson defense. And with all the talent – and leadership – that the Tigers lost off last year’s top-ranked defense, those questions were warranted. But through seven games, this year’s Clemson defense has had all the answers. Full Story » |

He has a very bright future. I'm really happy for him. He gives our team a better chance to win and I appreciate his effort. Big fan of Mr Kearse.

I feel sure my tigers are gonna bring it. They have a us against the world mentality, they look at every team and feel disrespected. That is a good way to play. GO TIGERS!!!

"Clemson is third in the ACC in total defense."
Anyone think of two defenses in the ACC that are truly better than ours? I don't think those yards/game stats mean that much.

I would agree with you there.

BC and NCState are the two higher than us. Interestingly enough, all three of us are in the top 4 in the nation in the total defense category. The difference between our numbers and NC State's is that they haven't played any elite offenses. BC's numbers are pretty dang salty though and they have played us, FSU, and Duke, so I'd give them credit. I think our pass defense is a good bit better and their run defense is slightly better so overall we're probably better.

Good point but one difference imo. I think we are better in both aspects. Not taking anything away from BC as they proved they can stop the run a lot, however who has run on the Tigers either? I think slight edge to Clemson due to playing better rushing teams so far other than FSU, but it's close. People that have not seen them have no idea how good the BC front 7 is. If they ever get some offensive playmakers on that team with that coach they will be a tough out. Love the way he coaches them up.

We played GTech and Wofford... both run the ball very well. FSU has one player that runs great.. but I think we will stop him as well as BC did... we have a good look at how that will go this week with NCSt RB.

I looked up a website, (it's on the internet, so we know it must be true!) which would lead you to believe the ACC has some very good defenses overall. 3 of the top 4 in the country in total defense:
2) Boston College 3) NC State 4) Clemson
(Michigan #1)
and also in the top 25:
9) Duke 16) Pitt 19) Louisville
Now, this could also mean the ACC has some really inept offenses, the truth is probably somewhere in between.
ps, The mighty SEC:
6) Bama 10) Mizzou 15) Georgia 18) Florida 20) LSU 22) Vanderbilt (!)
Coots did not make top 50, although 5 more ACC and 1 more SEC did.
