Couldn't leave early for the draft. To me, it means selfishness. Kinda crapping on your teammates and not finishing the job. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for Hopkins, but I believe he should stay and finish what he started.

Ding, ding, we have a winner. Putting the interests of a 20 something kid who's logged countless hours on the practice field, in the weight room, and running around Clemson ahead of our own desire for Clemson's football success. What a great idea!!!!!!!!!!
Go get em, Nuk.

Nuk has probably done more for Clemson in three years than you will do in a lifetime. So take your #### somewhere else.

Up thing to do. Boyd knows there is unfinished business left and Hopkins is taking the money and running.

in my opinion, he couldn't have finished the job any better than he did. great year and by far one of the greatest individual performances in Clemson history to finish his career. ACC CHAMPION, 1st 11 win season in over 30 years. what else exactly did he need to accomplish to satisfy you? easy for someone to judge when you know nothing about these kids and you yourself have never had anyone flash 7 figures in front of you. he has represented this school as well as anyone ever and i,for one wish him the best. we were lucky to have him.

Selfish is wanting a young man to give up an immediate lucrative future so you can cheer those wins next season. He's given us 3 great years. We'll cheer our wins with #2 and company.

Boyd needs another year to polish his game some more and he stated such.
There isn't much more for Nuk to do though and instead of risk injury he wants to take the next step and make money for him and his family then that is fine.
If you were offered a seven figure job three years into college are you telling me you'd say "nah I'll stay here instead?"
Get over yourself and your "ideals" about what a 21 year old kid should or should not do. The Clemson coaches are happy for him as well as his teammates and every fan of his except you.

It's not selfish at all. They need to do what's best for them as well as doing what's best for their team. Anything can happen in an extra year. Nuk could come back and tear his ACL and go from a late-1st, early 2nd round pick to going undrafted in a second. He is doing what's best for him, it's not selfish. It is actually selfish to get mad at this kid for leaving. He is a class act and he has represented this university in a good light over the last 3 years. Nuk is a true Clemson man and I wish him the best in the NFL.

What if Nuke tore out a knee next year?
Jan 11, 2013, 1:26 AM

That would cost him exactly one year of being a pro. If you don't understand the economic impact of losing a first year's salary consider this. Including student loans, interest on loans and opportunity cost, a doctor will average making less than a minumium wage job until he/she reaches mid-thirties.
You'd take that much from someone who has given you so much?

Leave early for the draft! Are you aware that basketball players can leave after their freshman season, and really good baseball players can sign minor league contracts right out of high school. Yes,it means selfishness.Selfishness on your part. Your only concern seems that he stay and finish. Finish what? Yea,your happy for him,but you would probably be a lot happier if "HE" gave up his chance for a pro career,to live his dream of playing on the big field,to see that his family is well taken care of just so he can come back and finish what ever you seem to think it is we need to finish;say maybe a nc. Go sell that to the 11 or so juniors who probably will be leaving Alabama after back to back national championships.Their leaving just migt cost Bama a third in a row if they stay. Get it.

Let's say you have been given an engineering scholarship to a school, and in your junior year, a major corporation approches you and says they've seen some of your work and they are about to engauge in a campaign to create a high tech electronics project that will revolutionize the industry worldwide. They want you to join the company and get in on the groundfloor of this opperation and agree to pay you a salary of 500K a year, and pay for your housing a re-location as well as some very nice fringe bennifiets (Ins, car, vacation time etc..). The offer is only good until their staff is full. Do you leave college to take this deal, or do you tell them "no thanks, I have another year before I graduate and get my degree" ..... do you take a chance that a job will be out there WITH YOUR DEGREE making at least 500K a year (when the industry average salary is way below that), and throw away the bennifiets they were willing to give you ? .... Consider that a person (non athlete) who goes to college does so basically to get a degree that will hopefully find them a much better job and finacial base in life... So if that can be guaranteed you before you get a degree, why would you turn it down simply for the diploma ?..and knowing that you can always go back and finish your education well into your adult life if that chance ever arrises. Fans think simply because we want to see a kid stay at a school through his senior year for our entertainment only. We want to watch him play and hopefully make our team successful with his talent but in fact, this kid has life goals of his own for him and his family, and I'm positive he's not considering your entertainment as part of his decision.

The purpose of college is to gain marketable skills so you will be a productive person in your chosen field and either get a job or start a business. Nuk has the opportunity to earn more in a few years than some of us will in an entire career. College has fulfilled its purpose for Nuk.
