Why not go independent? I know that would kill our current TV contract, but if the ACC goes under as many are predicting we will have lost nothing. Go ahead and start negotiating our own TV games. I know we're not the nationally recognized Fighting Irish, but we could still get plenty of TV time because of who we would be able to schedule. We could play a big name every week potentially. USC (the real one), ND, UGA, Michigan, Penn State just to name a few. We could schedule a different service academy every year for military appreciation day. Of course we would leave the cluckers on at the end of the season.
I don't know, it just seems the more teams are fighting for conference affiliation the less it makes sense. No one has any stability anymore and no one is certain of their future. Well going independent would definately make you certain of your future. I realize it doesn't make sense under our current ACC TV contract, but if that falls apart I would rather be independent than left holding the bag in a picked over ACC or play in the Big East etc.

yes, do this. This way it could finally sink end to the Clemson fan base that nobody cares about Clemson outside of South Carolina.

irrelevent in the world of sports as you say. We will need the money when ACC and it's contract fall apart anyway.
There won't be any buyout when there's no more conference.

This isn't true. The SEC and Big 10 schools know their future is secure. They don't even have buyout because they know no one is stupid enough to leave. BIG 12 has a GOR so no one is leaving them. Only the weaker conferences worry about people leaving!
You can do that, but you have to get all those teams to agree to Home and Home with Clemson. You need the $50,000,000 to give the ACC as you don't have the leverage Maryland has in court (you agreed to the buyout and they didn't). You really think all those teams want to add home and home with Clemson every year? You need at least 8 good games to get a decent TV deal plus four whoever that you can just cut checks to get them to play you. That still give you only 8 homes games to sell to a TV company.
Then think about all those other sports! That is a lot of work scheduling wise without a conference, and why ND wants to be in a conference in everything else.
