No hit to the head or above the shoulders. Not hit with the crown of the helmet. He did launch, but launching is just an indication that targeting may have occurred, and in and of itself is not targeting.

I just rewatched. Looks to me like he got the LSU player in

the upper arm/shoulder with his shoulder, which is not targeting. I think he got flagged because it "looked bad". He launched and delivered a wicked blow, but it was not tageting because he did not lead with the crown of the helmet and did not initiate contact to the LSU player's head.

Targeting is not just a viscious hit that knocks a player

for a loop. It has very specific criteria which must include one of two things: Forcible contact with the crown of the helmet, OR Forcible contact to the head or neck of a defenseless opponent. Neither criteria was met. A legal hit on Higgins that resulted in him being solw to get up would not be targeting.
