My family questioned whether the LSU holder should have been call down since he had a knee on the ground when he threw the pass? I don't know the rule on this.

Im guessing since they start the play down a pass is allowed.

Ours at Miami was a lateral though and not a pass like last night.

Make a pass or start a run when they are initially down when receiving the ball. It's the one exception to the college rule.
