I thought for sure they would go ahead and complete the merge with Bama (SouthCalabama Gametides) by developing a helmet with Carolina on one side and the plain numbers like Bama on the other. It’s probably already in the works!

A lot of that happened over a hundred years ago. You copy everything you do to this day other than name your stupid mascot after Colonel Sanders money maker.
It's actually quite sad that a large university can't come up with anything original on their own. I hope they can come up with something original to honor the 50th anniversary of USCjr's ONLY football conference title next year.

Sadly and apparently this is “original” for them. Although it’s never been on a helmet I learned from coot brother that this “######” font was created in the early 1980’s and was used on shirts and specifically the black hat that coot coach Joe Morrison wore on the sidelines. Their athletic department is trying to make a major push to bring back this logo putting it on everything. Although I would love for them to be copying the gaytors because all they do is copy but they claim this as original... what say you?
