Neuheisel is nothing but a west coast homer

Rick tends to go with west coast teams since he coached at UCLA and was fired due to lack of wins. Nobody would hire him so he is an announcer on College Sports Channel 84. He does has some good insight into college football but he is way off on his analysis here. The object of the game is to win. Clemson knows how to finish this year.

that I have ever heard. Pts. allowed and pts scored rankings are only meaningful if you play decent teams, which Washington hasn't. I take nothing away from Washington though, they have an impressive team. I think he needs to focus more on the fact they are behind Texas A & M, which have something Clemson doesn't- A LOSS.

I have listened to Rick Neuheisel for years on Satellite Radio. I like him far more than most, maybe because he's not an SEC homer. Unfortunately, the flip side to that is that he is an unabashed PAC12 homer. He loves everything PAC 12, and he thinks the greatest venue in the world is the Rose Bowl. So don't put too much stock into what he says.

Here's a lot of words about Neuheisel, from an article back
[3]
Posted: Nov 1, 2016, 11:44 AM
|
|
when he got fired from Washington for betting on NCAA games.
"After he left Colorado, the NCAA discovered 51 violations committed during his tenure, slapping the school with two years of probation. The American Football Coaches Association formally censured him for a lack of remorse. Neuheisel later described his approach to NCAA rules as "creative." Even when not breaking the letter of a rule, he often found ways to violate one in spirit. For instance, during periods when he was forbidden to visit recruits, he would drive in front of a prospective player's home, call him on his cell phone, and tell him to look out the window, where he would see Neuheisel waving. Washington high-school star Larry Stevens, who had spurned Neuheisel, described how the coach's pursuit bordered on stalking. Nonetheless Neuheisel, with a straight face, accused Pac-10 rival Bob Toledo of continuing to recruit players who had declared their intention to attend Washington.
While he maintained his golden-boy reputation with the national media and prospective employers, fellow coaches and fans referred to him as "Neuweasel" and "Slick Rick." The latter is a conscious reference to President Clinton, to whom Neuheisel was often likened by his critics. The comparison is deeply unfair. At least Clinton was a good president."
That, people, is who is claiming possible bias for Clemson. He really does remind me of Slimey Bill, now that I think about it.

that spent his entire coaching career out work, largely coaching at Pac 12 schools including Washington, and is a current analyst for the Pac 12 Network. Yeah, I'm sure THAT guy isn't biased.
He's also using dumb stats with no regard for strength of schedule. Washington has played one of the weakest schedules of any FBS (not just P5, all of FBS) school.

I thought Washington was one of the top 4 teams in the nation, UNTIL THEY PLAYED UTAH. They struggled with UTAH. Geez, make them play somebody decent and let's see if they are really any good. Right now, I would rate UL, Auburn, TAM, and FSU over Michigan and Washington. He should be happy that Washington won't have to play anybody worth a crap until the playoff. Bama will destroy UW and CLEMSON will destroy Meeeshigun. Rematch.

He is comparing Apples to Oranges! Idaho is the bottom dweller of the Sun Belt! Troy is the Best team in the Sun Belt! UW has played Nowhere near the schedule that Clemson has played! It took three no calls (block in the back) on UW's winning punt return to beat Utah! I Quess ole Ric didn't see that either!!

Never heard of this guy, and he decided to take a shot at one of the most rabid/reactive fan bases in the country. Go ahead sport, use Clemson to get your 15 minutes of fame. You're welcome for the recognition you wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

That he used to be the coach at UW...so if he wants to talk about bias he should start with himself. And while he tries to point out where our O and D rank, etc., he's missing a key component of who we've played and our SOS - which is #1.
Suckit Rick, you're as good a commentator as you were a coach.

This is why I am glad the coaches and AP poll is a non existent factor in terms of how we pick the best 4 teams. When a former coach comes out and says it boils down to pts per game against pts given up you know something is wrong. The schedule is the measuring stick and who you beat and their win loss percentage. Its not even close for Clemson and Washington. 3 top 25 wins against one, and two of ours being on the road. Theirs being one on the road. Strength of record for me should be the determining factor, but I know they look at more than just that.

This is a good indication of why Ol' Rick is no longer coaching. Turnovers has been our #1 problem on offense this year. He is the one who is not watching games. He must be a west coast boy.

As always, all of us can use any metric system we want in order to validate our opinion. New-not-so-wisel is looking at points per game, both offense and defense, but is not paying much attention to strength of schedule. This is why the committee is so much more reliable. They can take their time looking at many factors and not being pressured to come up with a quick, 20 second sound bite.

I told him if he keeps this up, he's no longer welcomed at the ESSO Club.
I'll set the record straight this afternoon on the show.

Rick knows football, but his reasoning is flawed.
Don't get me wrong, Washington has a terrific club. But their SOS is 39 (Clemson is #1)....it's easier to put up offensive and defensive stats vs. marginal competition.
Washington has a quality win on the road against Utah.....unfortunately the rest of their schedule is lukewarm at best. Only two of their first 8 opponents are over .500 (Utah & Stanford).
Clemson has two wins over Top 20 teams.....on the road. Not to mention a win over Louisville, too.
It's not even a close comparison....
Rick''s a great dude....but he's wrong about the committee and any bias.

Irresponsible even for Rick. I believe we will be #1 for the simple fact is they don't want TWO ACC teams in the National Championship. E$ECPN would go ballistic.

Neuheisel is an idiot! Washington hasn’t played as tough of a schedule as we have. Of their opponents - to date - they are a combined 25 and 40! That’s a 38.5% winning %.Meanwhile Clemson's opponents - to date - are 40 and 22! That’s a 64.5% winning %.We have played Auburn, Louisville and Fla. State. Washington has played Stanford and Utah. I believe its pretty clear who the better ream is at this point! Go Tigers!

Better team beating better opponents. Of course they are biased. If your team is bad, you are not as highly rated. Troy is better than half of the PAC 12 teams.

This guy is stupid he failed to say the best and only ranked team Washington has beat is Utah who has struggled we have beaten still currently ranked 5 11 and 19 still ranked only team bama beat still ranked is Texas am! Anyone can have good defensive numbers when they have only played 2 top 50 offenses (Colorado and Hawaii) for Michigan they haven't played anyone so if this guy could actually look at those stats they will see we aren't overrated how do some of these ppl have jobs I could do far better

we might win the ACC Championship which is what the Committee said they wanted;
et al, ad nauseum.

Points per game mean nothing when you are not playing but one defense with a pulse. Stanford's D was minus their starting CBs.

Talk about bias Rick . Who the #### has Washington played ? A lot of the teams they beat have LOSING RECORDS . They finally played a tough road game and #### near got beat if not for Utah giving up a punt return in which there were several clips. Washington should not even be #4 ,...Louisville is a much better team than Washington ...oh and we BEAT THEM.

Three of Washington's wins came against Rutgers (2-6) (giving up over 37 points a game), Idaho (4-4) (giving up over 37 points a game); Portland St. (2-6) (giving up over 40 points a game). You can essentially put him on the Donald Trump "idiot" "stupid" list!

..."but I think their win over Auburn trumps anything Washington has done because Washington’s non-conference was so weak. I think the committee is going to look at that. Plus, the Pac 12 is a little weird – up is down and down is up."
This was said by Chris Childers in response to Neuheisel's rant. Neuheisel did not say this part.

I disagree with his comments, but...

...you have inaccurately quoted Neuheisel; lumping his comments in the same quotation marks as the radio host's comments when there were actually TWO people making these comments and disagreeing with one another on top of that.
