Eating some crow - Elliot and Scott

Dec 24, 2017, 2:02 PM

I really though dual coordinators was a mistake. Boy was I wrong. I think one of the most amazing things about them is their ability to adjust the scheme to our player’s strengths.

I’ll eat some too. I also had my doubts that this was a good idea, but boy has it been awesome.

Myself included., but if you’ve gotta be wrong this isn’t a bad area of life in which to be wrong

there's a little more too it... in the game planning phase

Dec 24, 2017, 4:03 PM

Scott works on the passing attack plan while Elliot works the ground game plan. If Scott sees something he likes during a game he'll relay that to Elliot real time.

The biggest thing I hate most, is when Tony makes his offensive calls so plainly readable, and the one that makes my skin crawl is about every first down, the run play straight into the teeth of opposing defenses and they are ready for it....

I think you are right 95% of the time. These just happen to be outstanding men!

In spite of what many think the decisions of who to hire as coaches and coordinators is what Dabo does so well. The offensive coordinator the replaced was good, but there was not a huge drop off when he left. Dabo has put in a system based on his vision of what Clemson could be, and he has sold that vision to all the staff and players. He trusts and believes in them, as they also trust an believe in Dabo. It is a really rare and special thing what is happening in Clemson, all working as a team in concert to achieve a common goal, rather than selfishly trying to steal all the glory from their team mates. It is also an exercise in character building.

I agree completely. Morris tended to run a system, regardless of personnel or the opposing defensive scheme, he ran ran his system. The new co OC’s adapt to what they have from a talent standpoint and what the defense gives them. Also, they don’t throw in low probability gadget plays when they aren’t needed.
