Easy trivia for Tiger fan....

In the early 70's the Tigers recruited a local player to be the next star running back .... and he would have been had he not chosen to play another sport. A few years later he became the highest paid player in MLB and eventually became a HOFer. Most of you aren't old enough to remember this guy but he was special then, and still is.

I am trying to remember the year.... but he came to a Clemson game in either 1976 or 77, and brought Fred Lynn with him. The thing was, they sat in the stands with everyone else. They were aprox. 5 rows above us, and both were very welcoming and friendly. I wish I could remember... getting old Tiger brethren lol!
