Well the Sagarin ratings have them fairly high as well at #34. These type of rankings simply try to use all the available data to predict how teams will perform, and don't simply move teams up and down solely based on wins and losses.

I'm not sure where I'd rank South Carolina, but take the teams that are ranked in the 20-25 range which are Iowa, App State, Boise State, Iowa State, Arizona State, and Wake. Now let them swap schedules with South Carolina. How many of them do you think would still have their same record, and would South Carolina still be 3-4?

I'm not saying all of those teams would be 3-4, as we know App State and Wake at least beat the same UNC team that South Carolina lost to. It's hard though to automatically assume those teams are better than them based just that though, as one could argue that App State and Wake are better than us due to beating UNC by more than we did.

Take Boise's schedule for instance: FSU, Marshall, Portland State, Air Force, UNLV, Hawaii, and BYU. Boise is 6-1 and ranked 22nd. I know we hate South Carolina, but it's hard to imagine they wouldn't be at least 6-1 with that schedule, just as it's hard to imagine Boise will being 6-1 had they played UNC, Bama, Missouri, Georgia, Kentucky, and Florida. That's especially hard to imagine considering Boise just lost to a 3-4 BYU team.

Not to mention the two fine programs at Vandy and Tennessee.

I wasn't saying South Carolina is better than each of those 5 teams. I was only saying that you can't always look at record alone to determine which team is better when the schedules are so vastly different.
