Doug Kingsmore Outfield Hill

Can someone please explain why The Doug has a "warning hill" rather than a warning track like all major league ball parks? The hill caused Reid to drop a fly ball last night.

Whe, I tried out my freshman year to be a walk on (didn't make it), I was intimidated by the warning hill. However, during fly ball drills, I ran full speed and the hill slowed me down a little. It is definitely a feature you have to practice to get used to, but I like it better than a warning track, which can make you feel like you are closer to the fence than u actually are.

The Houston Astros have a center field hill in their park. I believe it's just in the center field portion of the outfield.

I brought this topic up Friday. And actually looked up Minute Maid park, it no longer has it as of a few years ago because it is dumb.

cause Rohlman to mishandle the fly ball......Clemson has had the terraced outfield since at least when the baseball field was moved to where it is currently located from where the tennis courts now sit.....Clemson outfielders practice on it every day.....if anything, it's a problem for visiting teams who don't have a "warning terrace"

The Crosley Field explanation makes the most sense. Also, I can see where it is a competitive advantage for us.

more warning because he can feel the rise vs having to look down. Two, it gives us a big advantage in that we are used to it vs teams that are conditioned to a warning track.

The announcers on tv last night mentioned that the hill was a home field advantage.
