More than 2/3 of the home runs I ever hit were on the first pitch. It's normally a fastball right down the middle. I get Seth Beer being patient and the other great hitters, because they can. Some players are told to take until you have a strike.

I had two different philosophies at the plate

In high school ball, a small 1a school, I was hacking on the first pitch. But in travel ball, much better/smarter pitching, I was going to make the pitcher throw me a strike. But a lot of hitters are told to make the pitcher throw you a strike.

You can run and grab a snack or something now. Just tune back in when our 1-4 hitters are up in the 8th
