The 2nd team NOT scoring does NOT matter AT ALL!
Sep 19, 2020, 8:11 PM

The second team, as a unit, will never determine whether we win or lose a single game. Ever.
If a starter goes down, an Great individual player comes in to join the starters, not the entire 2nd team.
If TL is hurt, the DJ comes in with the starting offense.
I’m Jackson Carmen is nicked then Walker Parks comes in.
At no time will the reserves as a unit ever affect whether we win or lose.
Why get upset when those *units* struggle?

Let’s just make sure the entire first string never gets on a bus together!

if you meant something different from that, then you should've said it. I think now you understand you were wrong. Our 2nd team is just fine.

Watching the second half again right now. The 2nd team accomplished absolutely nothing.
DJ connected on on3 long pass, otherwise nothing before or after that one isolated play.
My initial opinion stands.

What the bloody h3ll has the 3-deep got to do with 2nd team?

Go back to the initial post.
Entire units are not important. Individual back-up players are all that matters. Can a guy come in and play for an injured starter? That’s the issue. Whether a 2nd offensive line is cohesive as a unit is not important to winning games.

I have not looked at every team, nor has every team even played yet but based on what I have seen, Clemson is very good 50 players deeo. With different line combinations, backs, receivers, DL, LBs, DBs and etc. I would venture to say the first 25 on offense and first 25 on defense may be the best 50 players in College football this year.
In a close game, the Tigers are probably going to play 45 to 50 players anyway. These players are getting the bulk of the work and will be ready for the challenge. Just my opinion and time will tell.
Go Tigers!

LSU won’t have that problem. Most of their players have already had it.

I've been preaching this for years. It appears our defensive depth is greater than our offensive depth, particularly on the OL. There is some great talent in our true freshman group. I see several games where our young guys will get some playing time and this is extremely important with the threat of the virus impacting the roster at any time.

I agree with you on the point of the argument...
However, the second "team" is scoring at will. They are mixing and scoring at will. Heck, I think Ladson is *technically* 2nd team and he was fantastic. He is earning some targets (after a rough first week)
What folks get all frothy-mount is that our walk-ons are only as good as a mid-level ACC team.

put into the game, you perform to an acceptable standard. That means executing plays on offense AND defense, without mistakes and self inflicted penalties. If we do that and the other team stops us from scoring, then so be it, the talent at that point must be fairly equal.

I agree with your point. I am no statistician, but it seems like we have not had many penalties for two early-season games. I remember we used to have off-sides called regularly until mid-season.

I agree. We've only played two games, and the "light bulb comes on" for some players sooner than others, so it is way too early to judge.
